Bess is so close to tears on the pitch and it's genuinely hard to watch

Knock over these last 3 wickets.
Steadily amass 300 in our 2nd innings.
Spin the Indians out after a couple of Jimmy magic wickets in his opening spellseries shared 2-2. -

And here we go again. Crawley and Bairstow out to absolutely routine deliveries. Another innings defeat on the cards. FFS.
-
• #10305
I wonder how much he relies on having Buttler out there with him.
Anyway - Bairstow has returned three ducks in four innings. His latest came when he tried to clip his first ball (a half volley) through midwicket.
Heads have gone all over the place.

Bairstow’s shot was unbelievable. What was he thinking? Sibley’s yahoo wasn’t much better, mind. This is just embarrassing.

Bairstow has returned three ducks in four innings.
His batting has been nothing short of a disgrace, he shouldn't be anywhere near this test side for the foreseeable.

oh dear

Pathetic

I’m taking the train to work today so I can watch the cricket. It’ll be all over by the time I get to Farringdon. Just pathetic.
-
• #10311
Will we even make 3 figures in this innings?
-
• #10312
Not sure I've ever seen Bairstow deliver in test format, yet pundits seem to think he should be opening.
-
• #10313
Ever? Maybe take a look back at the South Africa tour back in 2015-16.
Having said that I wasn't convinced by his recall
-
• #10314
Have to concede I've not seen all of his appearances, but from what I have seen the ODI performances are somewhat better.
-
• #10315
He played well in Sri Lanka, but since he came back from his break he's looked like he's already playing ipl.
-
• #10316
Leach to block out the day, Lawrence for the double ton.

When Bairstow has been on it, he’s been superb. But he struggles with his technique at times. His head certainly isn’t on it at the moment.
He’s a player who has benefitted from sentimentality and having a relationship with Root.

This has been fucking dire from England. Shit team selection , shit shot selection .... just .... shit.
The Indians have been very good , hats off to them.Well done. -
• #10319
Easy to lose perspective of how good this india side is. They’ve got an incredible top four, the world’s best spinner, a destructive wicket keeper batsman and two very good seamers.
They’ll come over and give England a tough time in the summer too but I think it’ll look a bit more balanced on different wickets.

Numbers-wise rahane, kohli and pujara haven't been great recently but I think strong openers/Pant and the all-rounders obscured that from view, can't imagine it will go much better for them on a green top if they don't get their act together

Michael Vaughan defending Piers Morgan is a gammonocalypse.

If he keeps going, it could see him removed from TMS though. Maybe they'll get Butcher in instead... (we can but hope)
-

I would lose his 'bants' and opinions in a heartbeat but his tactical insights into captaincy, game situations and managing players etc are often really interesting so he would be a loss. If he closed all his social media and agreed to voice no opinions on matters away from the game (squad rotation, diversity in the sport etc) he'd be a proper asset.
Butcher is good - the ESPN switch hit podcast is great with him and various journalists. I'm enjoying Cook and Strauss on Channel 4 recently - two thoroughly nice chaps, albeit Cook seems to be getting younger and Strauss is looking increasingly terrifying with his skinhead and increasing size.

Cook seems to be getting younger
Glad I am not the only one who thinks he is a bit Dorian Gray!

Strauss is a Cameron to Vaughan's Farage.
Absolutely baffling decisions being made by Root, completely falling apart.
