Most people are limited by physiology and finances.
With used parts I reckon someone in the know could build the silver CAD on the previous page for less than £1k. Whoever built that bike has a great eye for detail. I've never gotten the moneygun aspect of this thread. Not all but most the big dollar stuff on here looks middle aged try hard to me. Like those "custom" cafe racers round Shoreditch being ridden by bankers.
Adanger on PR/Insta knows how to make insanely expensive stuff look HH but shirley that has more to do with her knowing what looks good?

Agreed, the joy of this thread for me are builds that show great taste and long-term appreciation of HHSRB, whether that's MGOOF, or modern frames with classic drops, saddle, wheels etc.
It's got to have the right shape tho - long stem big drop like that 'daleBudget is very secondary, my only build that's been posted here was a parts-bin job that cost me nothing but reflected an appreciation of HHSRB over the past few decades... https://www.lfgss.com/comments/15180495/
Get the pump on NDS and it’s a functional pass.
I enjoyed the marked-up image no end.
There’s another genre here that isn’t quite HH but is worth recognising. It’s custom-build road bikes with character. Zero stock parts. Not really about aesthetics at all. It’s a great approach that’s much easier to live with but it’s not HH.
HHSRB is a more aggressive position and, often, more bling parts. Most people are limited by physiology and finances.
