It's not the fork decision I'd have made, but then it's not the bike I'd have. which is lucky since it's not mine.
FWIW (not much, see reasoning above) I think there is a bit of a need to scratch an itch by replacing stuff on bikes. I definitely do it. At the end of the day it will ride like a bike with any fork, but obviously it's fun to change stuff around and experiment as you say.
Anyway - as I listen to the rain and wind outside, and I think back to the potholes from my ride this evening, I get jealous of the sun and smooth tarmac that you'll have over there. So hopefully you're enjoying the riding.
