I haven’t any experience of air sprung Helms. In fact the last time I rode the same model fork with air and then coil was back in 2006 with old school Pikes, so not the freshest of memory.
You pay a bit in weigh running coils but when I was building the bike in my mind I didn’t think the small(ish) weight penalty was too much of a worry as this bike was never trying to be weight weenie. The heavyweight tyres make far more difference to getting the thing up hills.
The coils are just super smooth as I guess there’s less seals for stuff to pass through (deep tech knowledge I know).
