I had one with my ring finger in that hand 10 years ago, looks a lot like yours. Today I found myself telling the doctor in A&E 'Last time this happened.....'. Makes me feel old and accident prone.
I panicked at first, it will be ok I'm sure but I've had to cancel a lot of stuff for a few days because it's painful if I bash it. I did get back home and finished cutting the wood after I'd examined safety protocols and made appropriate material changes :)
25 years ago I took a similar chunk off my little finger using a mandoline. Right down to the bone. 2 nights in hospital after I had a small skin graft to cover it back up again. It's the only plastic surgery I've had.
Haven't had any problems with it and it all healed up nicely. The nail does hang over the side/end of the finger a bit though. Non-gory photo:-
