Lovely bunch of bikes! The puch looks ace, I have something similar for shopping/picking up parcels/pizza and it’s great having a cheap runaround like that. Always wanted a proper cargo bike but felt I couldn’t justify the cost.

Typing this as I’m walking 12 miles home. Was having a blast this morning exploring some woodland before my headset shit itself. The bike now only goes in a straight line. Had fun til then though! Been using this cheap Planet-X ‘PODSACS’ saddlebag, good for my sandwich and raincoat.

Ouch, that’s unfortunate. The bike’s looking good though and the shots are very scenic and pretty!

Popped the fork off, the bearing cage for the bottom of the headset was beyond fucked. No idea how although my father suggested I probably tightened the headset too much! Easy fix thankfully, he’s a picture after I washed off the grease and grime.

After a looong day at the specialist vets, i threw in fresh headset bearings and we’re back in working order again. Revisited the trails I’d literally just discovered before it broke, just as it reached golden hour. Lovely and quiet too.
One of my Boston Terrier, Penny, who just beat cancer thrown in too, it’s been a good day.

Feet keep getting soaked riding the Puch, chopped up a plastic planter and zip tied it to my mudguards, which in my mind is at least a level 10 bodge.
Post office, supermarket then bottle shop today.

The mudguard flaps actually don't look as bad as they sound. The Saracen turned out well and I'm looking forward to seeing more progress with the Paramount.

Thanks mate!
Paramount is next on my list, still not 100% what set up to go for

Welp, late night impulse bidding on eBay has caught up with me again. Another green bike too!
1990 Muddy Fox Courier Comp, size large in full working condition for £82. All original minus the saddle and tires! Will probably take over the Saracen’s role as my general purpose fun machine. Should arrive this coming week

20 miles of Bridleway exploring today. BB has started creaking whilst climbing so got that to look at next.

Muddy Fox Courier Comp arrived today, heavily faded paintwork with plenty of chips but seems solid. The 7 speed shifter got destroyed in the post sadly however I’m planning on converting this with the tall Nitto stem and flared drops I bought last month, along with a 1x swap, knobbly tires and a rack or two.
I can see why people aren’t fond of cantis too.

Lovely. £82 is a bargain! What part of the country are you in, your bridleway exploring looks lovely!

Thanks mate! I live on the southern edge of Norwich near an old Roman fort, so we have lots of long straight roads and no hills!

I couldn’t resist taking it apart and trying on some parts. These 2.4 Schwalbes only just squeeze in there, with no fenders and no crazy tread. I’ll step the tires down a size or two for off road clearance. I think it looks comfy as hell personally. Threw on the stem and drops too.
What do we reckon?

Lovely stuff! I always get jealous when I see the later muddy foxes with the multi-coloured paw print decals
I can see why people aren’t fond of cantis
Can recommend getting koolstop salmon pads for the cantis and some cable pliers to make setting them up easier. Or just convert to V-brakes obvs

Thanks mate I’ll have a look into those!

Was planning a muddy cross country route via Boudicca Way, so for more clearance I removed the fenders on the Saracen and set out early this morning.
Good mix of road, gravel, sand, grass, soil and mud. Excited to do the same journey on the Muddy Fox when that’s finished.

Fitted some bar-ends which has been a lot better on my wrists on longer/bumpier rides.
I’ve been thinking of doing some paintwork on the Saracen, originally it would’ve had a bright yellow stem and brakes. I keep thinking about painting these along with the bottle cage and perhaps yellow grips, but have fears of it becoming a bit ‘pengy’
Did another 20ish miles cross country yesterday and feeling a bit pink today lol.
