I was about to get the cantis dropped on the original forks + the midfork rando rack mounts. Would have been fine with 650b x 42 slicks but luckily I found brand new 650b forks on ebay for just slightly more money than the alterations would be.
The seller was https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/stanny5 and he had some more but they all seem to be sold now.

Yeah I agree, all I can see is a difference in tubing and original component spec. The tyre clearance seems the same as your Royal originally had, 32c and guards are squeezin with no room to spare.
Another question, what did you change the fork to? Your original has the same flat and thin crown as mine that leaves no space for anything (also annoying narrow canti stud width precluding all the canti mount front racks)
