What did you do with the grips? Remove the rubber and replace with the zebra stuff? It looks very pro!

Spent the morning Mcgyvering a set of SKS longboards.
First test ride seem promising, no rattling to speak of and sits solid.
Saddle still a work in progress. I enjoy the one fitted, except for the color scheme.

Finished the 'top half' of my Vitus, waiting on a BB tool so I can do the rest.

rear valve fail ; )

Cut the rubber down to make the zebra stuff sit flush with the grip lock ring things and wrapped them with cloth tape as base for the glue.

Nice work.
Probably one of the nicest Tuttos I've seen.

Love a 979; would like to see the finished article.

Great build you have got going on. What is that color scheme? It is hands down the nicest I have ever seen on a Vitus.

Thanks :) it's got painted white main tubes rather than the usual anodised(?) colour. It's badged as an Andre Bertin which was a French bike shop/manufacturer, I think a fairly common practice back in the day. I have another white Vitus 979 in size 52 (new one is a 56, I grew out of the smaller one lol) which is badged as a Benotto.
Here's the old one, from which almost all the parts are being swapped over:
And a better photo of the new frame, full bike photos to follow once it's actually a full bike:

So good!
I think the white 979s were electrophoretically-coated (or similar process) rather than sprayed... Could be wrong.
I've got a purple ano 58cm 979 in single-speed mode that hasn't been ridden in ages; might stick a stupid 1x drivetrain and wide riser bars on it for the summer:

Not sure how I missed this but thanks for your reply. Do you know what the difference is between the 200sci and sc? Really tempted to get something carbon this year to work on and its either a Kestrel or a Didier Louis

Been forever since I’ve had a green bike, RAL 6003 Olive Green or RAL 6005 BRG? Solid colour, high gloss, powder coat.
Enquiring minds et cetera. -

Anyone got any saddle suggestions for this bike?
Just fitted a bunch of new parts but I'm not really sold on this Spoon saddle - the colour is a bit darker than the frame and not a fan of the black rails etc

If you want to keep the color matching, there was a run of cyan Turbo saddles a while back

Damn that looks lovely, thanks. I've been searching for a celeste concor but it seems basically impossible to find one now
Considering the volare reissue in white or concor reissue in honey, but would have been cool to keep it all Celeste

Old Bianchi OEM? Selle Italia, Vetta and others made them.
Modern - Selle SMP and Fizik,
likely every other Italian saddle brand...but probably not what you're after.
Color may be hard to match as celeste has n+1 shades. -

Greyish suede supercorsa? Bit less out of place than black leather, i'd match it with grey/black grips. Otherwise white suede saddle and buy some cheap celeste jeans.
Nice wheelset btw, what are the rims?

Haha good shout on the jeans. The rear is a shroom classic and front is just the stock one, thinking of upgrading but will prob ride it as is for a bit first
Think I've given up on celeste now. Narrowed it down to either the honey condor or the selle milano flite racer, will prob order one tonight. Thanks for the reccos, and @gertrudestein

Went for the concor in the end. Happy with how it turned out (I wasn't expecting the rails to be gold but hey ho)

Just bought this on ebay- thinking of going for an all silver build kit, (except maybe black quill stem?) in an effort to sneak into @Gaston 's VMB thread....
IT's got 126mm rear dropouts so I'm hoping I can squeeze a 130mm wheel in there and go for either 10 speed Centaur (with the silver ultra torque chainset) or an earlier 9/10 speed group with the square taper chainsets.
Have to try and squeeze some pdw guards in as well, as this is supposed to be a wet weather road bike!
