they're insanely expensive!
anyone seen any other cranksets that look similar?

Velo Orange (Grand Cru) and Dia Compe (ENE) have a similar but not quite as nice vibe.
If you are not averse to buying older stuff TA Specialities Cyclotouriste can be had on eBay for not much.

Andel do a nice Campagnolo copy, cheap too.

Thanks all.
Another question. Does anyone have any centre pull brake recommendations? Or are all the old ones shite?

I think Suntour did a cloverleaf crank; a quick Google suggests SunXCD have resurrected them? Still reasonably pricy, mind: https://www.veloduo.co.uk/products/sunxcd-rene-herse-style-double-chainset?variant=16760881287

take off the mudguards and saddle and pump and thars an okay bike

Or, black guards, pump and saddle, plus remove those ridiculous rim logos, then it would be okay too.

If it didn't have a set of IRD Defiant cranks already, I would've been all over this. Fantastically sensible chainring size choices.

Also don't believe anything that Amey tells you.
