  • The Strymon Iridium pedal. It’s a set of amp / cab / IR sims in a pedal enclosure. You have a Deluxe Reverb, an AC30 and a plexi / super lead. You can load your own IRs and whatnot.

    Edit: reading down the product page they claim the analogue JFET preamp stage gives it better touch sensitivity - I dunno if this is true but it does sound and feel more natural/“real” to me straight off the bat than other things I’ve tried. But bear in mind I really am very lazy with tweaking these kinds of things.

  • If I could be spendy I'd definitely pick up an iridium, would sort my "straight to disc" issues. Been threatening a sansamp for years but always end up putting it 2nd in the queue mainly because I get distracted by crazy sounds first.

  • I know right, the fun stuff always comes first...

    So far (and I’ve hardly tested it yet) the Iridium seems to sound better than the cab sim out of my valve amp. Different though. Way more flexible for just headphone playing.
