Was it not pressing on the bearing properly? Did it catch the edge or something?

It split along a groove that holds an o-ring. I don’t know if I over-torqued it as I can’t get the torque wrench between the stays but it’s a distinct possibility.
I’ve emailed Pace asking for a couple of replacements- let’s see if I get them in time for the weekend.

New (to me) Chameleon. Just arrived, can't wait to get it out on the trails. 27.5, 140mm travel, mix of xtr and xt. Lovely.

Cheers! It is a beaut. I'm tempted to change the grips although they are v... grippy

Is a scandal still a decent bike at £1300 or are Planet X having my pants down? Struggling to find a bike for summer at a fair price that’s in stock and not totally rubbish. Ultimately I want a Scott spark so can’t decide if I should just wait for those and ride my gravel bike or old 26inch orange in meantime, or get a stop gap hardtail that I can keep for winter/ kid riding

Not sure about that bike but family member works in LBS and trek have told them there won't be any new bikes available until Feb 22. It's pretty much the same with orange etc too. I ended up going 2nd hand but struggled to find anything that wasn't overblown in price

I've got a jack flash 29er which hasn't let me down so far, so I'd recommend a scandal if you can afford that price point. Looks like the main upgrades from mine are the frame geo and the forks

@Tallboy, I looked at the scandal for a long time and ended up with the sentier vrs as it's got everything out the box. Would definitely recommend if you set up a stock alert in wiggle as they seem to get them in sporadically.
From memory the scandal didn't have tubeless tyres / were abit shit and didn't have a dropper post. The difference in price after factoring in these bits was negligible, plus the fox fork was bouncier which is the most important thing right ?

Got out into the Peaks for the first time since moving to Sheffield in January. I am hugely unfit after a winter inside, so it was pretty good fun up until my legs gave out and I had to spend a bit of time rolling around in agony whilst my legs cramped up on the top of a wind blasted hill (shout out to the old boy on an eMTB who blasted past me without a care). Thanks to the fog as well for ruining any possible view I may have had.
First time out on this bike, it made a few annoying rattling sounds here and there but was pretty great overall. First time using a dropper post as well - I spent a chunk of the start of the ride wondering what the fuck I'd spent my money on, but the first steep rocky section I hit it was a revelation.

Nice. Whereabouts did you go? Is that somewhere along Froggatt?
-
• #20146
I like the jack flash actually and always wanted one as a kid, maybe I should get one of those.
-

That is Frogatt, well identified! Yeah, went over Houndkirk to Heathersage, along Frogatt then back via Blacka Moor and up over Houndkirk again. Was planning to hit the trails at Lady Canning plantation as a finale but I was too fucked up by then so just limped down the hill and back into town. Turns out 25 miles in the Peaks is a much different proposition to 25 miles around Epping Forest, which I guess I should've predicted but ever the optimist when it comes to route planning.

• #20148
Yeah, 25 miles can take it out of you! Drop me a line if you want any routes/planning advice.

You're going to be one of those people who get their fork serviced after the stanchions are nearly worn through, aren't you
