I dunno, my hypothetical EZ36 turbo Outback isn't really the sort of thing i would be looking for entertaining track handling from. Having said that i do quite like the handling of our impreza, Scandinavian flicks for days on the gravel roads here.
The MCM EZ36 turbo Legacy makes 300kw (or 400hp) without anything special on it really.
Also 2.5 to 3.6L is a touch more than 200cc no?

You're right, I was confusing it with the ER27. Clue is in the name, I guess...

Be interesting to see where the trophy truck cosplay ends, has anyone watched Better Call Saul?
I’m imagining Joe in his little hatchback on 22” chrome spinners, flame paint job, spot lights, ‘roo bars, at least two Jerry cans, antenna from front bumper to rear, winch, bead seat cover, chrome spider in glass ball gear knob.

And wearing Crocs to drive it

Mate - you're tarting up a 911 cabriolet because you can't afford a GT3. Pot. Kettle. Black etc. :-D

You're quite right, the 35" bead-locks are maybe a step too far, I'll tone it down a bit.
I think you might be surprised at what an engine development program (even a very minor one) costs, also.

Sillier to learn to true and build your own wheels than to pay a shop to do it/only buy OTP wheels?

Are you developing the new engine on your kitchen table?

Genuine question, could you explain the tl;dr reasoning for not just swapping a Mezger into a 996 Cabrio?
Seems like for the level of expense involved in the build you could have done a bare shell restoration with an engine swap by now?
If it's just for troll points on other Porsche owners that's perfectly understandable but there doesn't really seem to be any other good reason or am I missing something really obvious?

It’s the obvious choice that would deliver minimal knowledge, and would not lead to a commercial proposition. And anyone (relatively speaking) could do it.

Reminds me of the ralliart Colt
Only 200cc more than a 2.5 flat 4 though, and while the EZ36 is nearly as compact as the Subaru flat 4 it's not as compact. In the time-honoured tradition of firing the moneygun at any issue, I'd just fit a Cosworth 2.5 4 pot and boost the fuck out of it. The handling of any Subaru 4WD platform is (in my experience) so boringly competent that epic and unpredictable turbo lag could only spice up the driving experience.
