    That's going to be an interesting packaging exercise. On the Subaru 4WD gearboxes the output shafts for the front wheels are just behind the bellhousing, so the entire engine is in front of the front axle line. A 4.6 litre OHV V8 is going to be both longer and taller than a flat 4 by a considerable margin.

    Only 200cc more than a 2.5 flat 4 though, and while the EZ36 is nearly as compact as the Subaru flat 4 it's not as compact. In the time-honoured tradition of firing the moneygun at any issue, I'd just fit a Cosworth 2.5 4 pot and boost the fuck out of it. The handling of any Subaru 4WD platform is (in my experience) so boringly competent that epic and unpredictable turbo lag could only spice up the driving experience.
