  • v nice the white are great. will be getting a pair i think

  • Paris polo kids will be on that shit in milliseconds...

  • I always wanted to make a pair after seeing Macks pair he did. I think it was Mac.

  • Massive US reseller did an interview with Business Week and said “please don’t mention my mom” LOL

  • Ooof so she can now be VP/GM of her sons reselling company.. Bet dinner was a bit awkward

  • Reselling has gone crazy. I mean it's been crazy for a while but it looks like it's not dying down

  • Was reading that article and thought WTAF
    https://www.bloomberg.com/features/2021-sneaker-investment/

Ann disclosed relevant information about WCS LLC to Nike in 2018. “There was no violation of company policy, privileged information or conflicts of interest, nor is there any commercial affiliation between WCS LLC and Nike, including the direct buying or selling of Nike products,” she writes.)

Promoted in April 2020 and days after the article gets published she “resigns”.

  • I like the blue, out of stock in my size....

  • Son better get used to looking after his mom’s!
Why would you think a reporter wouldn’t mention that your mother is at the top of the food chain at the company you’re buying your stock from to resell?
Should have kept his arse out of the media.

  • She disclosed something to Nike and they were “happy “ with the information provided at the time.

  • Are you saying she shopped him?

  • Nope. Just find it odd that Nike were aware of what that her kid was up to and were okay with it. Once out in the public domain it is followed by an immediate resignation. She’s not exactly a mid level exec, she was promoted to VP/GM for North America (their largest single market) and before that she was VP Global Sales. It stinks.

  • Reading that article, looks like she bankrolled his buying. And despite him being smart enough to earn money out of this, he’s still stupid enough to send unredacted statements from his mom’s credit card to a journalist!
I’m pretty sure his mother will be okay, plenty of other sportswear brands could use her expertise

  • Am i the only one hoping he'll drop 100k on a release that ends up completely unwanted for some reason? R Kelly collab or suchlike?

I can't get my head around the whole reselling thing, maybe i'm too stubborn - even when I was younger & actually spent cash on trainers i'd have laughed at anyone who'd bought up an entire release & tried to sell them to me for £20 more & just bought something else... meh

  • The whole scene is fucked. When I queued for my Dunk London I put them on in FootPatrol and wore them home, proud as mustard.

If there’s a release now for a shoe limited to 202 pairs, literally nobody is doing that. They never leave their boxes. It’s like what’s the point???

  • Yeah, it's evolved from that to groups of placeholders waiting in line & buying everything, to groups of undesirables taking over the line & buying everything to bots swarming the online stores on the second of release & buying everything, it's mental - I refuse point blank to entertain any of it. Primarily because i'm cheap, but also fuck those guys - what's the point if they're not going to be worn? People with garages full of £20k worth of shoes that'll never be worn, why bother - get a classic car ffs...

Years ago I has a couple of pairs of Nike LD1000 & Waffles when they first started doing the worn-in looking reissues - wore them in pubs & clubs until they literally fell off, seen some similar pop up ebay or somewhere recently & they were a fortune, fuck that - why bother sitting on a pair of unworn £50 trainers for 15 years hoping to make a couple of hundred quid at the end of it?

  • And as some of us know only too well, leave them in a box for too long and you can't wear them anyway... A lot of shoes have a wear by date, all my Jordan III, IV and Vs have gone in the bin in the last two years, all fucked... AJ1s don't have that problem tho'!

It was nuts fifteen years ago but absolutely fucking crazy now... Before that it was easy, just go up to Sports & Things in Streatham and pick up whatever you want... Or get friendly with the manager at Foot Locker and find out when something was dropping...

  • I have 2x pairs of AM1 Kid robots (1 DS) that need resoles. I think I could still sell them for a few £££.

  • The only way to deal with it is to remove demand right? I'm never buying at resell money. I'm flabbergasted that people do. Imagine having £25k in your bank and then having £0 but a pair of dusty 19 year old Paris Dunks?

  • didn't the kid pay to have the Bloomberg article written about him then cut off contact once they said they were going to expose his connection to his mum.

  • I only buy trainers I like and would wear.
I have a couple of pairs of "rare" trainers that have actually appreciated in value (StockX valuation/ had I not actually worn them) but that's not why I buy them.

I like wearing the Dunk x Parra more than the £100 profit I could have made (although, they are hitting £400 now)

  • Yeah I do feel sorry for folk that have bought shoes they genuinely love, worn them sparingly then stored them & the midsole crumbles - I remember that Adidas short with Ian Brown where they went to a dusty sports shop in Argentina that was a 70's time warp & half of the shoes had disintegrated, loads of mythical shoes people had never seen before - dust.

@Señor_Bear - totally, the manufacturers don't give a shit as the hype is worth far more than the profit from making a 200 pair release into a 20000 pair release, as long as there's a market for it at consumer level it'll keep happening, and people are happy to pay £20-£30 more from a reseller so the big resellers buy in the hundreds & work the economies of scale even on the bigger "sought after" releases...

  • Yeah, sometimes I see prices of shoes I wore to death 15 years ago & it raises an eyebrow...

Like these - still wish I had stuck them away at the back of the wardrobe while they were still wearable, think they ended up on bmx duty...

  • At least they're actually nice. Imagine what this is going to look like in 15 years.
