Some types of foam / padding can react with nitro lacquer finishes and damage them quite quickly.
I think Hercules are known to be pretty safe, there must be plenty of online reviews to confirm or deny.

I know the rubber/foam on the cheap ones can sometimes damage nitro paint jobs... No kids or pets (dog is coming at some point) so that isn't an issue for me, I do worry about heat and humidity but I think a dry environment is what you've got to avoid and there's no chance of that here in Queensland...
That's a great little setup you've got, I love the idea of having all my guitars just sitting there ready to be played...

Ooh - thanks - good information... mines fine, but I'm going to go now and cover the foam bits in a cloth!

Yeah - it's quite nice having them all reachable without having to move :)

Here's what I've come up with... I'm getting my records, turntables and stereo out of the front room and onto a 4x3 Kallax so it'll pretty much be a music room...

This was a great shout thank you! They sorted it, it's better than it was when it was new!

The 5U racks were unavailable anywhere but I did find two 3U guitar racks, so now I have space for 12 guitars!! 👹🔫

Update on the little acoustic:
I tried to buy the Guild last week - I rang on Weds and asked if there was any chance of movement on price. The guy seemed nice enough, and said he'd see what they could do and ring me back. I chased again before closing on Weds, then Fri morning, and got 'ah, you spoke to my colleague - I'll leave a not for him to ring you back', but never did. Then I tried one last time on Friday afternoon, and they told me it had sold on Thursday. Not sure why it still shows as 'in stock' on the site.
Thanks for the advice all - I think I'd like to have something that small with a short scale, but I'm also pretty happy to wait until I come across something else that appeals. All the suggestions I got were pretty helpful in illustrating that when it comes to guitars I like (I like them all, but one I'd buy, since I have to choose), I'll pretty much know it when I see it.

Wanna but my Guild? Can sort out the finish or not as you prefer.

Thanks - I'll send you a PM, but I think I want the newer one with the wider nut. Also I'm in Birmingham at the moment, which makes things difficult!

You should grab it, it'll scratch that SG itch for five minutes...

Ahh... I've sent you a load of guff and pictures but yeah, one of my main bugbears with this guitar is the narrow nut.

So I have finally received a refund from custom bass builder which cost me about €100 due to exchange rate having changed since I ordered. What a load of bollocks but it's over and done with now anyway.
I immediately ordered a Squier Bronco and some handmade Chinese cymbals from an unheard of company whose sales rep messaged me out of the blue on Facebook Messenger offering cymbals (stupid good bargain though).
This is probably a cry for help.
I am a bit excited about plans for modifying the Bronco though.

that SG itch
SG itch is real, it’s a Sabbath thing for me. Very into this oxblood-coloured special edition:
There’s also a TV yellow one and a shell pink one. Which I like because SGs are always the same three colours.
I think my favourite SG (after any of Tony Iommi’s) is the Daguet one Jean Fossat from Slift plays. No idea why he put a lefty pick guard on it.

I’m a sucker for anything early-Sabbath-esque, and they do it really well, just enough psych mixed in with the synths and tons of delay. And a FUZZ WAR.
I've got a really cheap rack I use for mine. It seems ok. Are they known for damaging guitars?
Tbh I don't really like having them at floor height - dogs and kids being what they are - but I've got too many, not going to sell any and you can store quite a lot with a relatively small footprint.
