There's your trouble, an aluminium soda can is not the right starting point. You'll have much better results with a steel bean can. The alloy used for the body of soda cans is not heat treatable. You can anneal it at 344°C to bring it back to original condition, as it will be much stronger following the extensive cold working involved in can production, but at original condition it will be too weak to cut cookie dough 🙂
