Good to hear. I really like my Super Jolly, but it’s a bit of a monster. Looking forward to reclaiming some kitchen space (and better coffee obvs)

Should be able to, yeah - will check out costs of postage and let you know.

The most obvious change is the lack of retention - you can have multiple coffees on the go and just chop and change between them whenever you like.
The best thing you can say about it is that it just works from day one, and then you don't have to think about it.
@Tenderloin if there are any left get on it, if you don't like it you'll be able to sell it on without any loss

So I was given a Robot for my Birthday (complete surprise, after I briefly showed it to my wife back in the summer)
I currently have a Wilfa svart and a old rhino hand grinder. Obviously need to up my grinder game. Thinking get a good hand grinder, maybe 1zpresso JX.
Is there another option worth considering? Around the £150-£200 mark. Would only use it for making espresso with the Robot. -

Late reply! Yes I did and had s lot of fun fitting it. It's made a lot of difference to the coffee. Making some more walnut wood additions to it, and will probably do the dimmer/gauge mod soon.

I'd look no further than the JX Pro to be honest. It works really, really well alongside my Robot. Super easy to dial in a coffee. Really, really well made. Just as well, if not even better made than the Robot to be honest. I have zero regrets about buying mine. I use it for filter as well and it has rendered my (okay) Oxo burr grinder redundant. No grind retention. Really easy to change coffee's and grind size without needing to purge. It's super.

Agree with all of this. The ability to switch grind size easily with minimum waste is fantastic.

This is the new kid on the block if you can't get a niche https://www.bellabarista.co.uk/the-solo-single-dose-grinder-white.html
Seems to be similar to the Niche in functionality but with flat burrs.
Might be interesting for @Tenderloin

Ok, thanks for the advice. I like the idea of keeping it all as a manual process. Annoyingly the JX pro is out of stock on Bella Barista. I’m tempted to by direct from 1zpresso, but don’t what to be stung on customs and a long delivery time. The exchange rate makes it a pretty good deal right now, going direct.

Reckon I’ll go for the Niche when it next restocks - current grinder and machine were presents from the Doris so need to be careful about replacing them 😉

My little brother bought one directly and I think it arrived in 5 days in post brexit chaos

Ah, I am in the U.S. and got mine from Amazon.com. It said it was out of stock but I ordered it anyway. It came back into stock much earlier than expected, but given the UKs issue with imports right now, I'd be careful about ordering anything from overseas.

Bit late as I don't think they have any left now, but the Valentine's special by Dark Arts was fucking magic. I'm not normally too bothered by chocolatey roasts but the finish on this tasted just like a small square of 70ish% dark chocolate had just melted on your tongue. Pure sorcery. It was so good.

Great to know, after some googling it became apparent the postage times are actually quite short and I just pulled the trigger.
I’ve been in @Mucker ‘s exact same predicament and after a fair bit of looking into it I narrowed it down to the JX Pro. Saw bella barista were out of stock but buying direct saved me 70 quid and their customer service is said to be great. Looking forward to the delivery!

That’s great to hear? How so? And how did you find the difference in steaming?
Not heard of the dimmer gauge mod but feel like I need to look it up now -having bought mine already modded it would give me a little project to get stuck in with..!

I've really found it helpful being able to read the temp, before hand you could do everything else carefully and consistently but it was always a bit hit and miss with the temp. I've definitely noticed that there was a sour taste to the coffee before hand which has now gone.
It's pretty simple, it's just a dimmer switch that goes on the pump so you can drop the pressure right down for the preinfusion.
What age is yours? Apparently the more standard pump doesn't take so well to the dimmer however I'm fortunate to have the better one as standard.
Lots of info on the Gaggia page of Coffeeforums.co.uk

Was that the Dead Flowers one? If so, yes! Incredible!!
-
• #20372
Yeah that's the one. That's actually my first bag of Dark Arts and it's suitably wowed me. I'll have to order more.
-
• #20373
Yeah, that one was special though don't expect all their stuff to have the same effect on you :D
-
• #20374
That’s interesting- I’ve tried a 2 sec preinfusion but it resulted in an extremely slow pour and bitter coffee as it was blasted at 9 bars, so that might be a better option.
Mine is a 2002, thicker walled non magnetic stainless with the logos printed on. Will need to have a look at the pump situation as regardless the year I suspect in a well cared for machine this might have been swapped out at one point or another..!

Anyone have any recommendations for low/no acidity coffee?
Not even sure if this is a thing but my partner has a health issue which is exacerbated by acidic food and drink, and is really missing coffee.
Fuuuuu v tempted
