I'm all for homages and I know a lot of companies crib off each others designs, I just feel the Daytona is quite distinctive and if I was spending £8k I would want the watch to feel unique.
For what it's worth if I was spending that money on a watch I'd go straight for an Explorer 2 with white face.
That's not the right Explorer II. You want the 40mm version (16570). IMO.
I don't really get the weird fascination with the 16550 white dial that goes milky but maybe that is a better investment long term than a Daytona anyway.
