Surely you would just dink the frame??

I'm hoping to be able to revive ThunderCross this year (pandemic restrictions pending) and want to adjust the format to make it more Tracklocross and Single Speed friendly.
You guys have been pretty friendly towards myself and my singlespeed in the past. 💵💵💵 /humblebrag
I think the hillier technical courses are actually more singlespeed suitable than flat speed courses. Could imagine it might be a different case fixed though.

Lol! I won’t be angle grinding a pair of Omniums to fit 😂
-
• #356
Oh hai!
Yeah, there’s definitely a different skill set needed for fixed tracklocross. From previous ThunderCross’s we’ve learnt a fair bit. Mainly that February is too cold to hold any events! 😀

I overdressed last Thundercross I raced, absolutely cooked by the end.

You should try standing there with a flag and megaphone counting numbers while trying to figure out where your toes have gone
-
• #359
Ah yeah my toes were still off somewhere else 😅

54cm Allday or 53cm Steamroller
Nuts how hard it's become to find one of these or something similar in normal sizes( as well as tutto etc). I picked up a Mash Works fork thinking I'd find a frame for it relatively easily but so far no luck. Will stick it on the Dart to see how I get on with riding off road then will probably go custom as I don't think it'll be anymore expensive.
Thundercross sounds fun.

Switched out the drops on my new Squid for some Ritchey carbon risers and ESI grips. Lessfastmorefun.

Anybody worked out how to get those grips off? Want to switch some bars and I'm regretting putting the ESIs on til I was decided...
-
• #364
Thin skewer under the grip, one each side, then a your fluid of choice down the gap, rotate and then pull
Hand gel works really well if you can get it down
I used metal skewers and was careful but I am informed bamboo work better/ no damage to your bars

Wd40, applied using the little straw, works well for me with cheapo aliexpress esis, takes a little while to dry

Mechanic friend of mine swears by compressed air - if you have a compressor handy!
-
• #368
Big zip tie or two?
-
• #369
Yeah, I use the zip tie method. Have also used feeler gauges in the past to loosen the bond between the grip and the bar before busting a gut trying to twist and pull it off.
-
• #370
Compressor is the best; for fitting get an old bar end with a hole through the middle

• #371
Been waiting for an update on this.

Fire, 60% of the time it works every time.
-
• #373
For removing ESi grips I "inject" water under the grip with a small syringe. Slippery, wet, etc.

• #374
I have, Zip tie plus hand sanitizer

A bit late with this, but I have one of the cracking Condor Pistas. Ted James stuck a lug type thing over the top, and it's been fine for the last 10 years.
