• Of course springs require clamps etc.

Even then the clamps can slip.

If that place hire by the hour garage has hydraulic ramps and hydraulic press for spring change, do it there if you can. Easier than scrabbling on the floor and bending over a car for hours.

It's got ramps - not sure about spring clamps. I'm more reluctant about tackling that job tbh and might leave that to the pros - would a disk / (lowering) spring / damper change need a wheel alignment afterwards?

  • For disc replacement I wouldn't bother with wheel alignment as your not altering anything to do with wheel alignment. Would look at a dial guage ( this sort of thing is an example of one to get or borrow) to check that the discs are mounted flat to the hub and if the discs have minimal run out. Have had branded disc that have had excessive run out that had caused issues.

Lowering the car I'd check on specific forums to see if the amount you are lowering if you need to adjust caster/camber to keep the tyres square on the ground. Also what other adjustments are need such as different drop links to keep the anti roll bars within the and how to go about it.

I find it easier to work with other people, other set of eyes and other set of hands to help make it easier.
