it is horribly tempting to go for a gold one to match the gold Elite Link cables I've just ordered...luckily they don't have anything 10 speed

Speaking of 10spd, they also do some kind of conversion kit so you can use cable 11spd road shifters with new 12 speed mtb cassettes. I saw an old Specialized Chisel being converted to a gravel bike using this stuff.
