• So, given that I'm Australian and we do our dickswinging with our actual dicks out rather than rely on our suspension forks, I'm still cool with 120mm yeah?

Speaking to LBS, their opinion is to just fucking buy anything. The market is so fucked now that if you don't order now for June you wont get shit until next year anyway. So maybe I should just find an XC bike that's in stock and pull the trigger.

OR, order a bunch of frame, wheel, groupset parts and build something. Keen, given I don't know what I'm building

    #fuckbrexit #fuckcovid

  • 120 will be fine, but you’ve nailed the biggest challenge- what can you find that’s available?

You could buy the 627 today, but as you say it’s a little beyond your travel envelope.

  • Exciting !

  • Looking at bike24 and sigmasport just now:

I can see a Chisel in Large for £1500 or Chisel Comp EU2k
    Spesh Epic for £2500

Salsa FARGO Ti frameset (rigid fork) for 2600EU
Veloheld Iron - 27.5+/29" MTB Frameset (rigid) 900EU
Salsa TIMBERJACK Ti - 27.5+/29" MTB Titanium Frame Set 2500EU

    Specialized CHISEL - 29" Mountainbike Frame Set - 2021 - Limited Edition - Air
    1200EU

    Trek Procaliber for 1800 quid

    Basically, nothing I actually want.

  • Trek Procaliber for 1800 quid

300 quid between carbon trek and alu spesh?! (Chisel)

    Fargo is not mtb!

    You have ruined this thread.

  • Also i think the latest procaliber might be t47 bb.

If not, dont buy it. I have no issues with mine but you are Hippy.

  • 1200 eur for chisel frame can absolutely fuck off

  • I'm just listing shit that came up in the 29er hardtail range

I don't really want either carbon or alu but having a bike is better than not having a bike.

  • Find me a Cotic or Stanton in-stock in Large...

  • Are you sure you want 29er wheels? Little folk like you can feel more comfortable with 27.5

  • Everyone is saying get 29er wheels. "Little", you're too kind, stop it, you're making me blush.

  • For 1200 euros you can get a custom made frame in china and have it delivered in 8 weeks.

  • Made of what? Scrapped tin cans filled with superglue? Hard no.

  • Where do you think all the frames you listed are made?

  • Irrelevant. None of them are custom-made and being sold in shops here they're all up to whatever EU/UK standards are required.

  • OR, order a bunch of frame, wheel, groupset parts and build something

Lol, like there's any stock of parts.

  • 29s roller better, also I might have read him wrong but I think hippy likes to pedal. Therefore a 627 with a 130mm fork will give a bike with an already very low BB an almighty low one meaning even less pedalling.

Think he’s found the bike he wants that fits his requirements steel/29er/bit more fun than a XC bike in Cotic or a Stanton.
It’s the availability is the issue.
Getting a bike because it’s in stock isn’t going to make it right?

  • Easier to ride than a bike that's not in stock until 2022 though.

  • bike24 not delivering to the UK even though website mentions delivery to the UK. I tried to buy a hub and failed, emailed them and they confirmed no shipping due to Covid and Brexit!

  • These 529's are in stock, available to order today:

But, 130mm (to 150mm), so a bit too much length for Hippy to handle.

  • How about one of these from our forum's own Larsenroad
    http://www.stribecycles.com/hubble/

    29" 2.4

    120mm fork, 66.6 deg HT

  • Guys Hippy is ONLY going to buy a trusted (big) brand and so he should, no off field suggestions, we are getting so close!

  • Also I’ve spoken to Paul at Cotic a couple of times in the past couple of weeks.

They’ve just received their latest drop of Bfe Max frames and the Solaris Max frames are about to be/already delivered.
He told me they’ve had a couple of buyers pull out of buying a Bfe Max bringing the lead time down.
The same may well happen with the Solaris.

Think they’re very worth phoning/emailing to see if anything becomes available/available on the next shipment

  • Where do you think all the frames you listed are made?

    Taiwan?

  • Think they’re very worth phoning/emailing to see if anything becomes available/available on the next shipment

Their customer service is spot on.
