My armchair analysis guess is that he might have slipped off the front of the saddle.

That's what it looked like to me. Either that or arse lost contact with saddle due to big finishing watts. Didn't look like a mechanical failure.

I thought that or hit his knee on the bars somehow? Either way it was a pretty ragged finish before he crashed.
The cloud of sand as he hit the deck was quite something
