  • If you've got the stomach for it there are videos out there from inside Apaches hovering over the baddies in the Middle East (all legit, declassified and released) pinging rockets and bullets down on them like they're playing a video game, hidden high up in the inky blackness of the night while they scatter fruitlessly down below

  • The trick the pilots use is to hide over a hill, pop up so the radome can see ahead without engine or blade noise projecting forwards, pop down again, lock on, pop up and fire. Chilling.

  • Different than helicopters but I was once on an RAF airfield and a Eurofighter Typhoon was doing really low flybys over our heads. Even though I knew where it would be coming from it was impossible to actually see it approaching, it was just suddenly there and then you could follow it flying away and pulling up.
