Seen there’s been some sock chat over the last couple of pages, I’m looking to replace some vulpine merino ankle socks which I brought two pairs of in a sample sale and have over the years become my favourite go to autumn winter sock. Thicker than your normal rapha cycling sock, but not as thick as boot or ski socks.
Anyone know of any nice medium weight merino ankle socks, nothing above that, out there that are nicely made and durable, let me know.. -

Does it have to be ankle socks? If not I really rate Finisterre
I use their merino socks and hide them under my tights for a more pro look

Yep I’m not a fan of mid calf or under knee socks. They have to be fairly tight fit to keep from rolling down and I hate the feeling of a once high sock which has rolled down.
I have a couple that don’t roll down but i can count on my fingers the amount of times I’ve worn them. Ankle socks get worn a great deal more.. -

In answer to my own question. Finally got a pair of darn tough no show and 1/4 length merino socks. The cushioning under foot needs to be gotten used to, but apart from that I’m happy with both styles, well made, and not too thick.
Will buy again.. -

New question for the hive mind, I’ve got a winter jacket liner which has a busted double zipper, which I need replacing (I don’t think it can be repaired, see photos below)
My goto to see if zipper can be replaced would be the dry cleaners on d’arblay st, but I’m currently stood outside and they are closed, anywhere else forum recommended that is currently open? Or am I waiting until Covid restrictions are loosened in March?

Any other brand of zip maker apart from ykk I should be looking at? Thinking to take one with me for them to replace broken one with, rather than relying on them to source one..

I've got a mission workshop eiger (didn't pay full price for it) which is getting close to the end of it's life.
What other waterproof field jackets are out there that have a similar silhouette?
Not looking for a retro remake of a field jacket by the way. -

I bought a pair of trousers from Stan Ray. When they arrived one of the belt loops was snapped so I emailed customer services. They'd sold out of my size in the meantime and weren't sure when they were going to have more in stock so they've issued me a full refund and a discount code to use in the future. You can't really argue with that for customer service! The trousers are really nice as well apart from the belt loop issue.
I am assuming you are in the USA
