  • It's actually a saddlebag that's mounted on the front instead. There's what looks like a mini rack mounted to the brake mount, which would explain the struts. But it does also look like there's a set-up as you've described??

  • Wow. This thread has just been genuinely useful. Thanks for the links.

  • Does that mean I can close it now?

  • Also carradice works beautifully ona nitto M18 provided you have some sort of support at the bottom; strong piece of cardboard or PVC sheet

    Had it on my genesis:

  • This is my likely option if I convince myself a diverge carbon fork (with rack mounts, mind) can handle it. Friend of the show Jan Heine went off road with loaded GBs on the front of his test Diverge, but he didn’t need to live with the consequences.

  • first time I ever did #gravel aka #notshitfromabutt, I did it on (i) 25mm and (ii) an all carbon focus cayo... and had.... 0 punctures

  • Does Paris Roubaix count? That was on 24mm at 120psi (and before you think I'm a complete idiot, they were pumped that high because I wasn't sure I'd find a pump before the start and the plan was to let them down rather than worrying about starting too low. I of course forgot to let them down).

  • Does Paris Roubaix count?

    no

  • I ride 23mm on "crusher dust" dirt roads back in Oz. No risk of mud when I'm doing that though.

  • Don't you have suspension forks on your gravel bike?

Dad bike thread is over there >>>

  • This is the same fork on that Instagram link, so I assume there's something similar going on.

  • lets wait for @cake to post his nitto M18 setup ..

  • …? Wherethefuckishe

  • Ridiculously expensive for a fork but still, do want.

  • when the spork came out, it was the only fork of that kind, now plenty of choice

  • Do people swap out their bouncy diverge forks? Is that a thing?

  • I know that there's a separate thread for racks + bags etc, but has anyone mounted something like a Tubus Tara on an 'adventure' fork? That Enve one is rated for 18kg with a low mounted rack, which is a lot more than I was expecting.

Edit: just realised it's probably a bit of a bodge to fit that rack? Anyone know any low mount racks that would work on a fork with x3 bottle cage bolts?

  • Rapha ones are good. The pockets are very handy for quick access to a phone

Essential to post lots of photos to ensure that people know that my low average speed is because I’m taking it easy/riding adventurous terrain

  • But not the core ones, you have to spring for the brevet ones. the Core ones do not last

  • ** builds a ssmtb with 2.3s **

  • Naturally

I am a true buyer and had therefore not considered that a core product might exist

  • Define 'last' as mine still work as a comfy bum pad, they don't, however still work as a modesty piece. Though tbf you could see c*ck through the front of them from brand new.

  • My SSMTB has 2.3s. I actually thought about going back to this path with it, as it's flat, just slippery.

  • No one tells you this but you're meant to wear underwear with gravel specific bibs.
