I nearly got wasted by a teen drifting round a gravel corner on a quad bike.

Currently setup 11-36 it’s normal-tight I think. There’s a decently strong return spring on those mtb mechs.

11-36 is what I also run abet with a tight chain and no clutch on the GRX derailleur.
I found a tighter chain work wonder when riding on the smaller sprockets.

I have 1x9 in the GF bike and I left it slightly shorter than usual, but I tend to let chains as long as possible.

Never got a chain drop as far as I know, even with her shifting terribly all time.

but I tend to let chains as long as possible.
The old way is to do that to ensure it’s long enough to cross chain, nowadays this need to be avoided especially on the smallest sprocket where the derailleur may not have enough tension to stop the chain from skipping on the 11/10t cog.

Any idea what frame this is?

I see a lot of pictures of sagging chains lately, might be due to this

I think it's more due to people replacing chains and chucking the full length in. I get a lot of those, people with front derailleurs that rarely use the small ring anyways

Never seen or thought to run a Carradice support like that on a crabon fork.

When I saw your post I thought there's something that reminds me of Stefan Rohner's Firefly, turns out that the owner of that Belle is indeed him.

Is there a scheduled time of the year to discuss cargo bib shorts or did I miss the topic submission deadline?
-
• #17017
Do you know which Carradice support that is?
-
• #17018
I think that was covered off in March 2019. Can’t hurt to revisit it, though.

Are you saying you don't have enough chain to go safely into big-big? That is a recipe for a ride-ending total lockup in my experience...

No idea, looks like it might be custom?

If only they made a version of this that attached to a steerer tube like a decaleur.

Alll right..... it’s not a gravel bike, it’s a retro mtb....but what’s the difference....
You're not paying attention to eg
roadgravel map. Thats for July & August -

I rode 28mm off road today.
I fell over.
But I fell over whilst walking not riding.
I think this proves categorically that skinny tyres cut through the mud better and 1x is shit.

Hesson Labs does this little trinket, also works with bigger bags.

Plus you ran the chain tight also right?
