  • Yeah I’m happy with it. I have one on my cargo bike and one on my fixed all road thingy bike. I might want something more if I did a lot of riding on unlit roads but for urban/suburban riding I think it’s plenty.

  • Sweet. In Glasgow those that don't see you ,don't see you no matter how closely you resemble a christmas tree, always try to make an effort though lol.
Going for the E3 anyways as the way it mounts gives me a better option for tucking it up in the seat cluster. Likely just going to drill and tap a hole in the piece of cast alloy clamp (old SDG I beam effort) and threadlock it on, path of least effort!

  • There's a saddle-rail mounted plastic mount that accepts rack-mounted rear lights. Probably even less effort. Or the supernova clamp-on seatpost mount looks real nice.

  • The power to the dynamo rear light is AC. It should be passed straight through the headlight when it’s switched on, so exactly what you’d find measuring at the dynamo.

(Unless you have a Luxos U or a Supernova)

  • I have a front light but no connector for the rear, can I just run a double lead from the dynamo connector or would it be best to put a junction in the cable that runs to the front light?

The front light is just a cheapy B&M, its to be seen on our tandem

  • Yes you can. But the rear light will always be on, and when the front light is off it will be getting the full voltage from the dynamo. Most rear LED lights are fine with this, but some can’t cope and burn up very quickly.

  • Thanks for the answer, I will always be keeping both lights on, I don't even think the front has an on/ off switch.

  • Just put up an ad for a Supernova if any of you are interested

  • Does anyone have a a bracket similar to this going spare?

I have a new carbon fork with a lip above the hole on the fork and my current B and M light hits it so need a new solution.

  • Slightly related I have some M5 45mm bolts, washers, and nuts going spare as they are are too short, if anyone would like some.

  • I've used an SKS mudguard spacer (the plastic thing to get the strut to sit outside a disc brake caliper), and also a chainring bolt, to solve this issue in the past, if it helps

  • For my B&M light that bracket needed to be modified as the jaws were not wide enough to fit around the tab on the light.

Great idea for a bracket, poor execution.

Does work well when you get it in place.

The Dutch bike shop has most of the longer / shorter weird and wonderful brackets that are listed in the B&M catalog if you are so inclined to sift through.

  • Thanks both sound like a good idea, I'll have a dig around for something or use an old chain ring bolt.
@wot also cheers, I'll have a sift if they don't work!

  • I do actually! got one for my surly thats now sold, I did nick the nylock nut so ill have to find another, msg me if you need it

  • looking for a non-flickering tail light to go with the older supernova e3 if someone has a spare.

  • Thanks for all your help guys. Not the smartest job, will cut down but it works and didn't fall apart after 40km.

I have a few spare 70mm X head M5 bolts and nuts if anyone is ever in the same predicament!

  • What's the purpose of the galvanised nut since the other is a nylock?

  • Double security, locking two nuts together gives more locking force than a nyloc alone .

Or maybe just to make up the space.

  • I thought the latter. A couple of stainless washers would be a better choice. When it rusts it'll make the whole thing look messy.

  • @Alexnharvey @freezing77

There is actually 4 nuts, three normal and the nyloc. Both for security and to make up space. When I fit the front fender I may chop the bolt down, but it would only be to take off less than 10mm so I don't know if I care enough to do that.

  • What's the obvious choice for a mudguard mount for a front light? Isen?

  • Supernova also do one which has a similar design and comes in black.

  • apologies for not reading the entire thread if it's been mentioned, but has anyone installed the supernova e3 tail light on their seatstay? the version which features the side-connecting cable in particular (photo below). what's the recommended model/installation type when using a saddle bag without a rack and the seatpost mount doesn't really work?

  • Isen is pretty chunky but works well and looks nice
