Ah man! I’m very jealous. I’d love to have a drum kit. I’d never be allowed one as I’m already a bit obsessed with drum machines and samplers. I’m hoping my one of my kids wants to so take it up and I’ll have an excuse to get one.
Looks like a beautiful one too.

So my Sire R3 DZ arrived today. It has dual pickup (won’t be using them for a while) and is Grand Auditorium size. Having been using a nylon string travel/junior size the larger size and steel strings are something of a shock. There is more room for my fingers which is a real bonus. A surprise is the pick guard, but apparently Anderton’s take a container load at a time and do the setup in their own facility so maybe add one then since most people probably want one.
I’ll do a full photo in the morning.

Interesting move going for something bigger than the usual dreadnought, looks great. Remember to vary it up and play with your fingers as well as the pick :)

New arrival, wish I was more handy with a soldering iron... 🙃
This one's for the neck so I'll be matchy matchy now... There is a massive imbalance between the pups at the moment...

How's the Boss Loop Station? It's on my want/wish list!
-
• #10734
I was gonna ask that. I kind of regret buying the none-more-basic ditto looper. It's fun but I wish I could store and upload loops I like.

I like it. I bought it mostly for the drum loops and because I knew/trusted the brand, but it is nice to be able to save things as well. It's the only looper I've owned, but I'd probably get the same one again given the choice.
I wish the menu was quicker/easier to navigate for setting up the drums, but I don't know how I'd actually do it better myself. I also looked at the RC-10R, and that one doesn't seem to really 'fix' it so there was no reason to trade up for me.
As much as I hate digital things that can only talk to me through a tiny LCD, at least the one on the Boss is bright and clear etc. I've got similar feelings about multi-function knob things, but again at least it works well and is clicky. As above, I think it's the nature of the thing, and can't suggest any ways to improve it. Definitely happy with it for what it is, even if it felt like it was a bit more expensive than I thought it should be. The fact that I've only pointed out a load of negatives is because other than those, it 'just works', which is great.

I've been through a load of video's on YouTube about this one and the rest of the Boss range. The bit that's perplexed me the most is the single button to record/play etc, how are you finding that ? I also looked into the extra button pedal you can attach to this to make it a bit easier, but I'm not sure if it's worth it.
And how are you mostly using it, to provide a backing track to play along too? Or are you layering up and storing stuff with a computer?

The button is 'fine' - took a little bit of getting used to, but not much. I think just about all loopers work the same way. Like you, I reasoned that I could pick up another footswitch, but I just don't see a need now.
I'm mostly using it to give me some different 'practice' options, really. Either simple drums + chords + scale to help with timing and learning my chords/scales/whatever in a way that's a bit more fun/creative/musical, or just to play with as a toy on days when I'm feeling lazy. I haven't yet connected it to the computer, but i do have a few loops saved that either I liked or I just like coming back to to play around with/play over. Part of the idea of getting it was that I'd 'have to' play all the parts and be creative, so I deliberately haven't put backing tracks on it.

My ditto is probably my most used (after my blues driver) - if I’m playing along to something and particularly enjoy the solo, I’ll get the underlying chords looped and then improv to my hearts content.

The Anderton’s chap suggested this model as it is slightly smaller than the dreadnought :o. What it definitely is is bloody loud. I’ve taken the pickup out for now as I’m not plugging it in to anything and it still booms in the little room I am practicing in.

Took my old Junior to my guy for a second opinion... He says old mate has put the studs in the wrong place, when you look closely you can see the raised edges where the plugs are and they do appear to be offset... So even if I put the old bridge back on it would still be fucked...
Drill out stud holes, new plugs, drill stud holes again, refinish and match that area to rest of guitar, buy a new bridge...
Easy... 🙄

Wowsers - that guy. The bridge is offset 'vertically' on the body and the filed slots in the bridge was to then correct the stringline?
That's mental - he really did a number on your guitar. I guess you could be chasing him for the money to remedy it, but I wouldn't blame you if didn't and just wanted shot of the experience.

Fuckinell. What an arse. Sorry Joe.

• #10743
Jeez. Makes you wonder if it's even the same guitar?!

Had a big moan about it on Insta today, he's come back to me and says he'd like to talk it through some more... The odd thing is I really quite like him as a human being and he's done some other fantastic work but he did a really fucking shit job for me... I can't handle going through the whole process with him again so not sure if I'm gonna meet him or not...
Not sure if I'll be able to save the bridge, could you fill those filed slots with anything to make good? I have no idea... Cutting the guitar up again is the bit I'm not looking forward to...
I will try and put the old bridge on first in case that miraculously works, if so I'll just forget about it and live with it...

Looking for help on isolated power supplies for effects pedal boards.
Anyone running one of the cheapo ones without problem?
I'd rather spend as little as possible ideally, but well aware of false economy.
The Mooer Macro Power S8 is on my radar, but basically represents the minimum of what I need - 3 isolated outputs at 200ma then 4 in parallel at 100, but allows no room for expansion/changes.
I just can't stump for the Strymon Zuma currently, but since I won't be back gigging for a while(??) maybe I'm just better saving for it?

Sorry to hear about that it sounds like a shit situation to be in. Hope you can get it sorted.

If anyone is interested Andertons are raffling off some nice guitars with all proceeds going to Teenage Cancer Trust.
Not too sure what them being signed does apart from flattering the ego of the two guys presenting.

could you fill those filed slots with anything to make good?
If it's really unsalvageable as it is I'd be tempted to go the other way and file the whole bridge down to the level of the slots. You could even use the opportunity to get the intonation and action spot on.

Bollocks, this is bad stuff Joe, sorry to hear it. Presumably old mate is going to put his hand in his pocket and pay for the repair work? There's no real talking his way out of this one, he just made a mistake and that's it!

Put the old bridge back on and everything seems absolutely fine... This raises even more questions, why on earth would you not measure up for the new bridge before drilling? Why wouldn't you try fitting the old bridge before taking a file to the expensive new one? And does this nut look right to you lot? The B string looks way out to me... 🤷
Anyway, emergency over... I'll leave it as it is and shut up about it now...
EDIT: It sounds SO MUCH better with the old bridge on it, it resonates so much more... Steel Vs aluminium, who knew?

Apparently it's so the guitar cable (which would usually be on your right) doesn't run across where you're standing/walking.
Edit: sorry, didn't see new page. :)
