The Tag Heuer brand is so far removed from the original Heuer brand that Tag might simply be considered to be releasing homages watches under license. And whilst these are supposedly collaborations with hodinkee, the reality is that their arrangement is more like an exclusive distribution agreement.
You’re right, personally I hate these watches, not only because they murder the original designs but also because they shove automatic movements into them, messing up the case heights. The elegance of the proportions of a watch are to me what fonts are to you I suspect. Once the spell is broken...
I suspect this will be a 2447 NT reissue in 39mm (the original is 37mm), based on the chonky 2020 reissue of the 2447S.
I can see what Tag are doing, they see Breitling moving up the charts with new designs and Heuer is the darling of hodinkee as a result of the NY / USA connection that Jack Heuer developed in the Mad Men years of the early 1960’s. It just would have helped if they hadn’t been overcome with private equity greed and exuberance in the 1980’s.

Hoodwinkee look like they’re going to attempt a pseudo-2447 limited edition collabo here, @freddo please can you absolutely savage it if & when they do? Thanks in advance
