Yeah I know what you mean.. I wanted the larger tyres, so that swung it for me.. If anything the Ti is more useable as it's about 1.1 kgs lighter.. I may stick some 700c wheels in it with 32mm GK slicks for more road work, but I been out and done 40+ miles on roads with those tyres and it's great..

I’ve got a 650 wheelset with 47mm senderos on it gathering dust, while I’m slipping about through mud in 700x40s. If anything, it’s made me realise what you can handle on a bike like that with 40mm tyres. It’s be nice to just go full mtb tyres though sometimes!
I don’t really notice the weight, but then I had a straggler before the CDF :-)
I’m kind of in the opposite boat. Love my CDF but I do wonder if a frame with more tyre clearance would be more useful to me. I’ll eventually get round to getting the chainstay crimps extended for more 650 clearance and maybe that will sway me one way or the other. Meanwhile I gaze longingly at my mate’s titanium tempest...
