The higher the frequency the shorter the range.
Most urban 5G antennas will have a useful range under half a kilometer.
Rural antennas will have a greater range but you won't be getting blistering speeds (for example VDSL+ type home broadband speeds) through them.
I think 5G is very provider and postcode specific. I've moved recently within the SW15 postcode area. Could only get 4G previously with Three mobile, and now have 5G signal just 2.2km away.
Even 100m away (or worse depending on buildings as the really high 5G frequencies don't like anything in the way) and you might lose that 5G signal.
For some reason Vodafone are the only ones who can offer me a 5G router, despite there being good 5G signal where I am. I spoke to Three and they could only offer me a 4G one. I don’t mind keeping a phone on charge all the time so I think I’m gonna try that option first and see how I go
