  • Cheers.

I've got an old CycleOps Fluid² trainer, no idea how it performs when heated up.

    I'll give it a go.

  • As ever with these things, It'll be about consistency. So make sure the tyre pressure and the roller contact are kept the same and your numbers should be ok :-)

I think the lever on that trainer is pretty good for consistent tyre/roller contact?

  • I had the same set up for many years until I got a PM and still got a lot out of training with it.

Its a big brand trainer so Trainerroad has seen plenty of data to draw its power curve.

  • I think the lever on that trainer is pretty good for consistent tyre/roller contact?

It’s got a clutched knob to ensure the correct contact.

  • I'm still on that same trainer, paired with a Quarq PM. Don't feel I have the need (or funds) to upgrade right now.

  • Email from wahoo and sounds like they are going to replace my kickr core after less than a week. How fast is their customer service ? Will they send me a replacement and collect the faulty one at the same time?

  • Yeah, that's pretty much me - got the turbo to try and keep some fitness over the winter, be interesting to see how I get on once I venture out again... every year I look at the Rapha festive 500 inspirational photos of beautiful crisp winter days then I open the front door & it's -5 with horizontal 20mph sleet & I sit in the house and eat cheese instead.

  • What was the issue?

  • Not been told what the cause was. But it’s been suffering power and cadence dropouts on form sprints both in TrainerRoad and on the wahoo app

  • How fast is their customer service ? Will they send me a replacement and collect the faulty one at the same time?

Aren’t these questions for wahoo? 🤔

  • Was just wondering if people had experience. As an update, they will collect it next Monday and once it is recorded as being on its way back will send out a replacement, so might have one by next Friday.

  • Seems pretty reasonable. Good that they’re not making you wait until they’ve received it, taken it apart, ummed and erred etc.

  • I experienced resistance spikes, sometimes the resistance staying ridiculously high. Resetting the app (trainerroad) seems to work.
It only happened a few times in my crap, outdated tablet, phone seems more stable. My kickr is ancient anyways, 2nd gen I think.

  • Does anyone here as a referal code for a trainerroad free trial? Would like to give it a try when my new trainer arrives the next days but would rather try Zwift and Trainerroad before signing up.

  • Excellent! Cheers, will register now!

  • Mine was replaced pretty fast IIRC but I killed it before lockdown and before everyone had gone mental for indoor training and I live in London.

  • Doing some research they at times offer a service where you can pay a refundable deposit so they will send the replacement before the warrantied machine has been returned. But stock issues at the moment mean this isn’t available. But they reckon to ship the replacement once the faulty one has been collected by the courier.

  • Yeah, my twitter timeline might have how long it took but I'm not going to search it. I think it was probably something like a working week.

  • Looks like
4 Mar - reported, collection arranged
    6 Mar - Collected
    11 Mar - Shipped

  • Yeah I think my dead Core took a week to be reanimated. Came from NL if I remember correctly.

The replacement now makes all manner of noises but I'll wait till it fully borks or the warranty is nearing the end before trying to get a new one.

  • No, I don't drop my weight 30kg and miscalibrate my turbo so I can swing my dick at the TV screen when I "beat" some random fucker in Canada.

    That was you?

  • Nope.

    I drop my weight 50kg.

  • I received my replacement Core 5 days after the faulty one had been picked up

  • After upgrading trainer (went from Tacx vortex smart to Kickr Core which was defective to a Kickr) I have been suffering from hip flexor pain. It’s been so bad I have been struggling to walk upstairs etc. Been treating it with naproxen, rest and ice. After some research it may be that the rear axle on the kickr is higher than the Tacx so the hip angle has been crunched.

I’ll be checking this out later today to see if it was just this change in height that has caused the problem.

It’s annoying I upgraded to the Kickr because they didn’t have any Cores in stock to do an immediate replacement but I have only done one ride on the new trainer as the pain got so bad last week.
