  • Ok. Watching your video, what is happening is, when you ‘back pedal’ your chain is touching the ‘chainstay’.

There can be a few reasons for this. To fix it, try the following, but stop if there’s a lot of resistance or if it feels like something might break:

    1) Push the pedals forwards instead of backwards. If you don’t have space to ride, lift the rear wheel off the ground by holding the saddle with one hand, and turning the pedals with the other hand.

  • This is very discouraging. I just try to pedal and I can't pedal. I really need to fix this chain and can't pedal problem immediately.

Eseman, can you tell me if I can fix my chain and can't pedal problem at home by myself? If I can, please tell me how to fix it. I need my bicycle in normal condition.

  • I’m wondering how to structure my response... Actually, I’m changing my response. Try the above, and if that doesn’t work write a reply, let’s go step by step. I’ll try and help you out but I don’t have all night.

(What I wrote before that I’ve now taken out so we can go step by step. IGNORE THIS PART

From what I can see in the video, I think there might be two explanations:

    1) You changed gears with your hand on your shifter after you stopped pedalling forwards on the bike, so the chain didn’t fully change gears. If you try what I suggested above, that should sort it out.
