• Like, WTF is BOOST and do I need it?

Is 120mm suspension a lot? a little? too much?

"Side Swing front derailleur required for double" WTF is that?

"BOOST cranks must be used for proper 52mm chainline" are my knees going to die?

"Recommended tire size: 27.5x2.4 (2.8 max) or 29x2.25 (2.4 max)" fat enough? I mean that's basically road bike tyre widths :)

  • 2.25" is bordering on gravel now. Current trendy wheel/tyre combo is 29"×2.4-2.6".

You will want Boost unless you're trying to save money by buying something old

For a proper trail hardtail 130-140mm forks are about right, maybe you could use less if you're not shredding gnar

  • Yeah, I have a 50mm front tyre on the grave bike and will stick a 2.1" Mezcal on the back when I've killed the Venture. To be fair, once I have a hardtail, I'll probably drop the tyre sizes on the gravel bike down to nicer road/gravel.
