yeah I used to ride with Mike who created dialled bikes out of a desire to design his own single titanium frame i.e he only wanted to build one frame for himself and that was definitely his ethos.
This is me testing his ti prototype frame waaaay back in April 2004

well that was the pun on the frame name cos it had an extra bit of steel in the frame on the mk 1 model. I had this one although it's a stock photo.
This was back in the day when 4 inches/100mm of front travel was considered all a man would ever need and the fact that Mike designed this for 125mm+ was considered craaaazy

I've just been in the forest, there's about the same amount of water but it's more of the solid variety.

I bought some Melon Optics Alley-Cat glasses as they come with a clear lens and looked like they had a good air gap plus good coverage, today’s testing had zero fogging up so I’d say they successfully answer the brief.

I went for a little ride this morning. Washed my glasses with washing up liquid beforehand, no steaming up either. Bam!

If the forum fat man wanted to buy himself a new, modern hardtail for off-road adventurings where would you suggest he start looking? Is there something out there in steel (other materials considered especially if you can find me cheap ones) that will take mahoosive tyres and has all the new shit that no one can ride up/down mountains without? Like, not 26" wheels (fucking heathens) and bars wider than 50cm and all that jazz.
I'm thinking of just going to bikepacking.com and copying the most common TD rig but that's less fun than a massdebate on here.

Cotic SolarisMax is the easy answer
Out of uni, a MkII PA was my first modern MTB. Loved it even if the BB was too high to be ideal.
It got nicked after a few years :'-(
