  • Yeah definitely family wagon, just the typical start looking for bikes and getting over excited. Had a look online and flying dutchman is the only shop I can find the does the KR8 all the others just seem to do the standard bakfiets? They also do the e-assist with the pendix edrive, any experience of these?

Trust me, you won’t have time to make this stuff yourself.

Definitely, I already don't have any time with the 10 month old, I'm not imagining it improving when the 2nd one comes in May!

There's no rush just yet the Mrs definitely isn't up for test riding anything right now but it definitely looks the best choice, it's mainly the e-assist stuff that has me baffled.

  • I have a bullitt and its 95% of the time kid only (with canopy and folding seat) but the rest 5% it does so well!

I know someone near me who bought bullitt when his daughter was born and now she can ride herself to school etc so he just uses it for his dog and general cargo bike.

Get one, the canopy is basically a metal cage so as safe as anything really.

  • I've got a Bullitt as well. Kids love it, great for cargo and the canopy is relatively quick to swap between. In the summer I just uses the side bars from the canopy and it works as a convertible.

  • Argh I really want one

  • Has anyone got a bullitt with a 650b rear?

  • I’ve test driven one before I bought my own.
This is the only picture I have

  • I know it's basic but black on black with gumwalls just looks 👌

  • Ah so not a lot of space

  • Have I missed the boat on this?

  • Nope, slide on into my DM’s

  • I had a Kr8 (now with fizzy.bleach of this parish) with the canopy, and it was great; IMO the advantage over a standard bakfiets is that the Kr8 is lighter (I think by about 10kg?), and has some nifty touches, like the adaptive seat tube that allow for a wide range of rider heights and the rear triangle cutout that makes changing a rear flat easier. It did my twins sterling service from the age of about 18 months up until 7. If you want something racy(-ish) like a Bullitt, then a Dutch-style bakfiets isn't really the thing; on the flat they can shift if you give them the beans, but really they excel at cruising along in regal comfort at a moderate pace - Rolls-Royce, not sports car.

  • Cruising, comfort and practically are definitely the key ingredients. My wife's always ridden relaxed step through bikes as well so I'm sure it'll suit her the most, I'll probably still get her to test a bullitt for a giggle just in case.

  • oh wait you want to share the bike with your partner? Then maybe bullitt is not a good idea depending on their height, the standover is bit high.

  • For all the rad wheelies pics in front of SBC the Bullitt is not that fun to ride. Don't think you'll be missing out if you buy a bakfiets-style bike.

  • Yeah, as soon as I remembered that I wasn't buying a bike for myself the bullitt makes less and less sense. Coincidentally enough my next door neighbour just had a Bakfiets delivered from Carryme bikes so I'll be able to see one close up sooner than I thought.

  • But I wanna be rad to the max!

  • I know it's basic but black on black with gumwalls just looks 👌

    This!
Black is the best and most badass, especially with gumwalls. So nice.

White Bullits can also look really good if done right.

The colours can all fuck off, except for, under certain circumstances, yellow.

  • Then buy an Omnium!

  • Then buy an Omnium WiFi!

    fixed

  • Indeed. In blurple.

  • I'd have to bin one of the kids to be that rad.

  • who wouldn't exchange a child for thru axles, mega clearance and that sweet sweet paint job?
