Could be a QC thing, but like I said, our machine in the flat was totally fine. For a just off the bottom of budget option, they have exceeded my expectations. YMMV, of course, but then you have the AO guarantee to fall back on. And if you want no quibble replacement, you can buy extended warranty from them for less than a tenner a month (I didn't). Same for the current fridge freezer. About the same external dimensions as our last one but seemingly well roomier inside. Even has some snake oil feature that cycles different colour light in the veg drawer to keep things fresher for longer.

I am slightly surprised to hear positive words on Beko.
Yeah. Beko, Hoover and Whirlpool (who own Hotpoint/Indesit) have got a bit of a reputation so I'd avoid them for that reason - not a big fan of firey death.

https://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/news/plymouth-news/freak-beko-tumble-dryer-fire-3183698I don't want to worry you @stevo_com - I'm sure if you have smoke alarms and an escape route if the worst did happen you'd be fine. Ultimately we're probably all more at risk from phone chargers etc. than from our appliances.
Was really happy with my Beko machine from AO at the last flat (5 years of no hassle service) so went Beko again for our current washer and drier, I think it was £800 or so for both. Might go a bit shinier if we redo the kitchen/utility room. Washer is supposed to be able to be "connected", but haven't arsed to work it out yet. Glad to hear @Soul's experience of heat pumps as I went for the Beko heat pump version to try and not burn up all the lecky in Croydon. 1600 spin on the washer means that the drier runs for at most half of the time it starts thinking each setting is going to take.
