  • I know we should be above commenting on the appearances on politicians, but christ that's a terrible shirt/body combo.

  • I've said it before, but his much vaunted health kick post covid seems to have petered out. He looks like shit.

  • Perhaps he should try the Dorian Gray approach.

  • How far? Are you famous enough to have a publicist?

  • No change from normal... quite sure it is an act to play on the sympathy vote.

  • I got a text today from Guy's and St Thomas' about booking for a Covid vaccination, which I've arranged for Thursday, with the second injection booked for early May. To be honest, I'm in the Priority 6 group, type 2 Diabetes, but wasn't expecting to receive an invite for several more weeks.

Interestingly, my sister-in-law also got a text today, also booking in for Thursday. She is approaching 50 years of age, and doesn't have any underling heath conditions, or at least none that I know of. She lives in Epsom, so maybe that has something to do with it...

  • From the people I know who are getting, or have had offered the vaccination early are getting their call from the local GPs, so i'm guessing they are working through their lists in the correct order.
In my area, it is full of old folk, so guess I could be later rather than sooner

  • I got a text from my GP yesterday and had my jab at lunchtime today, I’m guessing I got it because of my carer duties. They were doing the Pfizer, so far all I’ve got is a sore arm.

  • Maybe I am not as healthy as I thought!

  • I put my name forward a week ago for the UCLH over 50s study, where people might receive either the Pfizer or Oxford vaccines or both, but haven't heard back yet. The volunteer info says there might be several weeks before they get in touch, so although I'd like to take part, would be best for my own health to get the scheduled vaccination.

  • Live in a racist (UKIPy) area where they don't want a forin vaccines.

You'll get the second shot within three weeks too.

  • Best for you (and anyone), in the long and short term, is not to catch covid.

  • We should get this new information out to those in charge.

  • Will Boris be the first person confirmed to catch covid for a third time?

  • I don’t know, it’s pretty technical stuff, and I’m not sure they’d understand it. Better give it to SAGE to distill the message even further.

Best for you (and anyone), in the long and short term, is not to catch covid.

  • There was a lot of concern about the South African variant spreading in Surrey, so that might be a factor for the vaccine roll out being quicker in Epsom. There is also a large Brazilian community in the area (my sister-in-law is originally from Brazil), so that might also be an influence.

  • I was having a browse around the map of covid stats by local authority this morning. The one that is here:

    https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/interactive-map

Was feeling pleased that our LA is belof 100 per 100k after being close to 1000 per 100k at the start of the year.

Does anybody know what is going on with the outlier lower tier LAs? Why would Pollards Hill have a case rate of 523/100k compared to their neighbours with 200/100k? Similarly for Harpur with 700/100k compared to neighbours with 100/100k. Same with Market Overton, Cottesmore & Empingham. Seems like some localised pockets of the country have really high case rates still.

  • Both mum and dad have had their first jabs now (vulnerable 57yo, and a 'normal' 64yo), both retired last week and moving house next week. Some people have all the luck!

  • Don't know whether relevant, but Pollards Hill was in the first round of surge testing for the Saffer variant, so possibly that has spread faster?

  • When the areas get small enough the case rates become a bit meaningless.

Pollards Hill is 39 cases in a population of 7,500. It could be a local outbreak, or it could be random noise.

  • Thank you. Good point.

  • Sadly, he died from covid complications a couple of days ago.
