  • I'm with the seller on this one. It's not reasonable to expect the shape would be identical to chainring brand x.

    Buyers on eBay hold all the cards so you could get your money back if you really want. This is why most sellers will just take the hit and refund immediately - arguably best for everyone long-term.

  • I would never have expected it to be the same shape as the DA ring and I certainly wouldn't have expected the seller to lose a single penny but being unhappy with the mismatch I think is reasonable. I would have happily paid for return postage and was friendly in my request.
    Unfortunately I shot myself in the foot by not saying 'not as described' because I knew this would be a stretch. It was more just 'this kind of thing bothers me; can I return it?' and just got a 'no returns' case closed response.

    This is naive. Would you have paid for their initial postage and time? The seller will always lose on a return.
