  • The engine management might be unhappy if the cat isn’t there- have a look on the forums for people with experience of doing this. If there’s no sensor after the cat then this may be fine.

  • The sensors are all before the cat - so the only issue might be it being noisier?

  • Option 3 sounds ideal.

  • But what will the emissions be after cat removal?

  • does it only have one sensor after each precat and no sensor after the main cat under the belly?

  • OBDeleven plugs in direct, bluetooth to mobile device only. It datalogs, but obvious limitations of an android phone don't compare with VCDS full laptop capable. Thats its main downside. If your tracking issues in network controllers dropping out, or just weird interferance etc, get VCDS full license version from its creater, approx £600 I think for full suite + a decent HEX cable is approx £120

OBDeleven yeah I think they are doing a BMW version at some point, but right now its VAG specific.

  • Yeah that's my understanding from a number of forums. I certainly didn't get any faults / lights when driving it to the garage earlier.

  • Jethro Bovingdon on the 996

  • well, you are in luck then.. i would throw a cat in there just to sleep better, but it seems the engine management won't mind if there is none.

  • My old car had four cats, two for each bank - you could delete one each side and still pass the MOT emissions cleanly. I do not know the reasoning behind it, maybe something to do with keeping startup emissions low - not monitored here, but could well be part of tests elsewhere.

The Volvo, with a single 200 cell cat, would pass MOT emissions when the cat was very hot.

  • Porsche taycan touring.... Very interesting...

  • Porsche are clearly following the trends in this thread.

  • Pff, you can't even get an MTB in the back..

  • Meh, I'm old skool... The only MTB I have is 26" wheels, and cable v-brakes! It'd probably fit.

  • Must be. Lfgss research pool...

  • Nice... My repurposed polo bike (also cable v-brakes) would fit in there as well, these 29er losers can >>>>>>>

  • Meant to post this with the other link, oh well:

  • TL:DW, everyone should buy a 911.

  • Looks like the primaries for our new manifolds need to be 27.5” long, 1.75” OD, 1.2mm wall thickness stainless (just to mix my measurements). That’s a lot of tube to fit in quite a small space.

  • Replaced the starter motor this morning with numb fingers, all sorted.

  • Jethro Bovingdon sounds like a parody name for an overly pretentious motor journalist.

Watched a bit of the video and still not 100% sure it isn’t a parody.

  • Coolio, did you just get yours rebuilt? GF car is making starter motor noise and I avoiding doing anything about it.

  • Nah got a new one, traded in the old one. 60 quid.

  • When I very politely asked if he could give me a lift in a Lambo to the church for my wedding in Wollaston, where the Evo offices are, he declined. Not forgiven you, Bovvers. Catchpole is a much nicer bloke.

  • Anyway, it worked out for the best, hired a Citroën DS for the day instead.
