Modded?
The lack of a minute track is lovely and clean.

It is! Parts from Namoki.

This still has the vestigial printed 3-o'clock marker outside the date window that the existing 9S85 hibeats tend to get given when they're in 40mm cases, so I reckon they could easily do a 38 or 37mm watch with it in, even though the 9SA5 caliber is 2.6mm wider than the 9S85.
Hopefully they'll do a really clean and thin 37mm watch with a hand-winding version [prays]

wonky bezels are LuFGuSS standard!
(I only move mine for the photos, then straighten it back up) -

My bezel pip lives at 9 o'clock all the time, think it looks better.

This looks like a nice deal if you were in the market. https://www.goldsmiths.co.uk/Zenith-Cronometro-TIPO-CP+2-Watches-Of-Switzerland-Limited-Edition-03.2242.4069/27.C774/p/17640716/

looks like a nice deal
There seems to be loads!
guess people didnt buy loads over lockdown...

There’s a few... a lot of them like the Longines and Nomos discounts look a lot like what you’d be aiming for from an AD, but a couple of the Zenith and Omega discounts are quite big. There’s a 41mm two tone/ rose gold Aqua Terra that’s half price, but then it’s a 41mm rose gold Aqua Terra... with a brown dial.

middling Seiko
Fuck that. I've got one of those and it always goes on the wrist when walking up pointy things.
One of my favourite watches in the collection so far.

^ agree, Alpinists are beyond reproach, like Turtles. Never apologise

By the way, re: the Alpinist, Inchpincher made me aware that Seiko Japan have decided that they liked last year’s European special edition with the grey dial so much that they’re releasing it this year as a standard series piece. The European subsidiaries are quite annoyed, unsurprisingly. They’re offering anyone that bought the LE a full refund.

Interesting. Do you mean the 2021 LE grey dial they released today (the one I have above) or the 2020 LE greeny blue one from last year?
If the former the chap trying to flog his brand new one for £1,200 on eBay will be amusingly undermined!
