  • asking someone for help

But Queens Gambit did it first

  • lfgss chess club trip to the pub when we can.

  • Yeah, and 'analysis' is really no different from doing pills and staring at the ceiling for a while.

  • ah was a bit confused by the resignation @cookiemonster only takes one blunder to get back in things. looking forward to the next round

  • Well, I didn't last long in tournament 3. Well played @AWu-Tang, good luck with the later rounds.

  • Thanks. I felt lucky rather than anything in those games. If you fancy some revenge, how about another 3 day game?

  • Sure

  • Challenge sent

  • I'm gutted by the big error around my queen move in that game. But the analysis feels particularly harsh.

In games where I have low accuracy, it's usually because I've ignored an exchange in favour of keeping apiece or position.

  • Yeah, I agree that the engine has been harsh on you there. I think that to get high accuracy you need to make a lot of Best Moves.

You missing the fork on your Queen was obviously a fuck up. Not sure how it would have played out without that, although I was ahead.

Let's have another game in a few days.

  • Yeah.
That game felt like i was chasing it from a very early point, which probably led to the fuck up as I tried to be cleverer than I am. The analysis, obviously correctly, had you on top all the way through.

All of the games we have played seem to have been decided by one major move.

  • Well, I purposely played the same opening as our first game but played it a lot slower and with a more defensive tempo.

If you look at the opening book, I dont think you should pull your Queen back to e8 after I play Nc6. You lose tempo and development, which probably hurt in the middle game and made you feel like you were chasing.

The main line is to move across Qa5, I think. Qd6 or Qe6+ (or Qe6+) also look good.

  • That's very helpful thank you, Qe6+ is interesting. I think I'll have to try that.

  • Getting regularly fucked over by Isabel at the moment. Was winning at a decent rate Vs everyone below her but now if I make one move that isn't 'excellent' or 'best move' I get eviscerated. Even tried going back to the sub optimal move and spamming the hint button so I'm always doing best move and still always end up destroyed.

  • She's rated at 1600 ELO right?

    Good luck with that!

  • Yep, she fucks up a lot of my regular openings so gonna keep playing just to develop that part of my game and drop down a couple of levels if I actually want to try and win

  • Wally is my master. I don't remember Isabel too much, but I know all about Wally. The dude sucks

  • @jb000 awful game for me. Slowly getting worse with each move almost from the get go. Your Knight is causing havoc.

  • This probably won't make you feel better but you could have taken it with your rook a few moves ago. I thought I had thrown the game. Not great chess all round really

  • Yes I've not given it 100%

  • from jah tim

I invited a chess champion friend of mine for dinner last night and made the mistake of using a checked tablecloth

  • well played @JonoMarshall , felt like i was on the backfoot the whole game until you lost your knight.

  • Crucial mistake when I could've taken your knight, but essentially lost my own. Well played.
