Just hope their current 'powered by AWS' stats aren't a sign of the quality we'll get.
Well, unless they get the tyre degradation data from how often we hear 'Bono my tyres are gone'

Some amazing old Equinox episodes about the Ford turbo F1 engines. I don’t remember these!

• #7554
Nice! Looking forward to making my way through those over the holidays

The knighthood seems very premature in my opinion. He'll retire from F1 in the not too distant future, which would seem a much more appropriate time.
-
• #7556
Yeah it's gonna be awkward everyone calling him Sir LH, especially when he wins races.
I thought the government were gonna stop active sports stars being knighted/damed but total shocker they didn't follow through.

Australian GP cancelled... 2021 starting well

To be fair, it's generally a snore-fest anyway, even for F1. Looks like they're still planning to fit it in later in the year though.

Some more old F1 documentaries worth a watch.
The Team: A Season with McLaren. This was a 7-part series on BBC2 in 1993. As above ^^^, I don't remember this one either. More of an insight here into the characters at McLaren. I don't think I appreciated what a bastard Ron Dennis was! Look at the way he talks to Häkkinen!

The Grid. Horizon documentary following Williams in 1981 in the ground effects era. I was too young to watch this one. Real old school. Warning in advance about very short shorts on the engineers and smoking while working!

I do love Mika, definitely seems to be overlooked when it comes to discussions about 'the greats' of the sport. Really wish he had've stayed (actively) in the sport for longer.

Secret Life of Formula One. BMW. I think this was a DVD in either 2002 or 2004, so a bit more recent. I think this is Discovery Channel and it's definitely a bit formulaic in comparison to those above, but there is still some good older footage.

I looked this one up and I think there might be some more parts to it.

Fully operational is a funny way of referring to a human being. Good he’s alright.

Exactly my thoughts, that bit makes it sound like they're talking about T-1000.

Other sources have said he was hit by a car and has lost a tooth.
-
• #7570
makes it sound like they're talking about T-1000.
Given they got him into a rookie test it the whole Renault/Alpine thing with Alonso sounds like they got him out of stores, stripped him down to component parts and reassembled him anyway.

Rumours are that this complete penis is going to be sponsoring Williams. That’s all we need...

I don’t drink energy drinks so I don’t keep tabs on where they’re sold. Can anyone specify an actual business that offers that energy drink? I had never heard of it prior to moving to the UK a few years ago/through their F1 Haas deal.
Their wiki page is pretty funny, as is the ESPN write up on them. I’d be damn nervous if I were invested in Williams’ performance; ‘CEO’ seems like the type of guy who can be counted on to fuck things up needlessly.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rich_Energy
Apparently they were sued successfully by Whyte bikes for ripping off their antler logo, but they haven’t paid. I thought their previous logo looked familiar.
-
• #7573
From what I understood, they weren't an actual real business and didn't pay all their commitments to Haas. Their energy drinks aren't widely available as far as I've heard so not sure how they plan to take on Red Bull.
You'd have to assume that Dorilton Capital are a bit smarter than trusting someone who appears to be a scammer, but who knows.

I’ve never seen it anywhere. I know one person who has tasted it and that was because she had it at some promo event.
The CEO is a complete dickhead. He threw his toys out the pram at HAAS when they weren’t doing very well and afaik owed them quite a lot of unpaid sponsorship. Then it transpired he’d plagiarised Whyte Bikes’ logo and they took him to court to make him stop using their logo. I think HAAS had enough at that point and ditched them as a sponsor.
Williams don’t need that.
Edit: that’ll teach me to part type out a reply and post it later without refreshing page. As above ^^

Isn’t he just another version of that poker playing wand, can’t remember his name - known as the King of Instagram, although possibly he lost that title when it became apparent that he was broke and his life style was bollocks.
