Electrician and GCH engineer required for Ealing, anyone?

Does Tom the plumber (mentioned in first page) do general plumbing work? Need a new toilet waste pipe fitted.
Failing that, any recommendations for good plumbers in North London? Seems to be a lack of recommendations for those in here.
-
• #55
He does. Even if he doesn’t, his is a family of plumbers, so his brother, his son or son in law can do it. Give him a buzz. You will have to insist he wears a mask though.

• #56
Great, I’ll give him a try.
Not having a great experience with mybuilder.

Would be interested in mybuilder anecdotes, currently have a few offers for GCH on there.

I've used these
https://www.juniorsplumbinganddrainage.co.uk/They were fine. Turned up when they said and did the job. Seemed a little expensive but in line with the other quotes I got so possibly I was just optimistic about how much I thought it would cost.

I used Craig and Katie at https://www.simplemanagementsolutions.co.uk a year ago to install a new rad, install some TRVs for Tado and service my combi boiler. Katie did a decent job and the price seemed reasonable (thou I have limited experience of plumbing costs!).
They were a recommendation from my parent's goto plumber (who didn't cover this area).

I'm probably just being picky but I just didn't get a great first impression from any of the people I spoke to. Didn't really seem interested in listening. Wanted to charge me to come and give a quote.
Thanks @aggi and @damitamit but I don't think those guys serve where I am, I'm in Stoke Newington.

• #61
I'm N8 so not too far off Stoke Newington.
-
• #62
Ah, ok. They just had a map on there website with a highlighted section that didn't include my area. Will get in touch, ta.
-
• #63
hey did you get any joy with a plumber yet? im looking for one

• #64
I'm N8 too, so they're worth a try (thou you might be sorted by now).

Any recommendations for a roofer or general builder who could rapidly take on a quick (2 day) job in SW London?

I need a plumber to replace a leaky kitchen tap in NW6.
(or it could be repaired but it's a horrible tap anyway)I'd do it myself only I now live in a whole different country. My sister lives in my old house now.
I guess it would be something from Ikea, which I think come with standard 1/2 inch flexi tails. -

Had a guy round to fix my bathroom sink waste, South London though (I think he's based out of Bromley), but posting here for other folks. Handy for small jobs. Was the cheapest of the Mybuilder responses and best/most rated.

Struggling to find a bookcase with the right dimensions so thinking I may need to get someone to build me something to fit (need a desk to wfh so bookcase needs to be tall and narrow and then coming out over the desk in a Tetris upside down L shape).
Anyone recommend a good carpenter/bookcase person who'd do a good job and offer some handholding about design/materials etc.? We're in N1
cheers

I got about 15 email quotes for our alcove shelves. top pick (cheap, good comms, nice pics of previous work etc) was http://www.pjhcarpentry.com . might take a bit of convincing to come to N1 (although I'm in N5) he prefers south of the river jobs. But was almost 50% cheaper than competition and the shelves are bombproof.
Depending on your budget - http://www.matthewwoodworks.co.uk/

General purpose plumbers that do a good job in North London also (Andrew/Tom) - http://www.aplumbingandbuildingservices.co.uk

(Sean/Paul)
Side hustle to the music?
Sorry

I mean, they are heating engineers....
As it happens they're coming by tomorrow. I'll make sure I suggest they stick "I got the right temperature fi shelter you from the storm" on the side of their van.

I used https://www.lahartcarpentry.co.uk/ for cupboards and shelves in an alcove. They were good with a decent level of hand holding but also fully accommodating our requests.
Not the cheapest but no one seemed particularly cheap for this stuff.
