Great bike, great forks but the best is the Dahon saddle

Very nice. Sweet baby blue too!

Yeah give it a go. I'm 75ish and will comfortably run 19psi on 27.5x2.3, 17psi on 2.6 on natural UK trails in winter. I am used to CX tubs at silly pressures though so prefer grip and squirm over support. Bike parks or Euro rocks I'll increase them up to 22psi.
Pressures based on a proper gauge though. I find track pumps always read high, so when friends say they are on 25psi, it's more like 20.

I should probably get some to make it less bone tingly when my rigid forks bottom out. Are rimpacts the go-to?
-
• #19557
Good value, they work and are a British company so I guess so

I believe it's Gorgeous Baby Blue.

The saddle is actually surprisingly comfortable, it's just that it looks terrible.

SDG Bel Air saddle, I always found them to be a good perch

I use a digital pressure gauge as eyeballing a track pump is, given my great age and associated failing eye-site, tricky anyway. Also the long white beard can get in the way.

Yeah digital pressure gauge is a must.
Tyre size and casing plays a part, 27.5x2.6 magic Mary with dh casing on my nomad at 23psi doesn't squirm too much and I can run lower if trails aren't rocky.
27.5x2.4 dhr/f with baseline flimsy side walls feels way more squirmy
-
• #19563
Yeah sidewall construction and rim width makes a big difference to support
-
• #19564
I'd like to be able to run a lower pressure on the rear of my hardtail because it bounces off small undulations that the full suspension bike just powers through. I'll have a play around with lower pressures.
-
• #19565
this is the same reason I have Brompton saddles on all chill bikes
-
• #19566
I've not even ridden my MTB in months but am looking at which rim inserts are available from distributors I have access to.
-
• #19567
Might benefit from inserts in those as they'll provide some damping, which your tires wont really unless you're running heavy casing.
That SKS gauge is a great bit of kit, I bought one when I got home after we went to Surrey , I've used it loads, and it's better then the Topeak one I had before. It's nice being able to ride to the station on 40psi and then being accurately being able to drop your pressure.
-
• #19568
That's because you're an XC lightweight
Just like me...
-
• #19569
I've got the SKS, which I have used for years and lives in the box in the boot - but I also now have the SRAM pressure sensing valves which tell your phone what pressure is in each tyre.
-
• #19570
Yeah but you've also got a 69 degree HTA, AND don't have a tubeless plug kit!
-
• #19571
Less phone more bike, ta.
But do they give you feed back on what you're ideal pressure is?
-
• #19572
Not sure, there's a guide to setup in the app but I've never used it.

I run 24 psi rear and 22 front, and according to Mr Withings I'm 76.5kg. Sounds like maybe I could drop those pressures based on what people are saying. 29x2.4 Maxxis Minions on both bikes, DHR's on the 295 and SS on the 529.
