• Not cushcore but I have a Rimpact strip in the back of my hardtail - works well and allows me to run lower pressures without dinging the rim. Was pretty easy to fit but is noticeably slower rolling....

  • What tyres and pressure are you using?

    @sensom
    I've got Rimpact front and rear, and I didn't notice any negatives once I'd installed them. I'm running 14psi in a 2.35 Hans Dampf - front and 17psi in a 2.35 Nobby Nic rear. Where I really noticed them was going over wet roots, they certainly allow the tyre to conform better and provide a bit of damping there, and I've set some of my fastest times on them as they increase grip therefore allowing less braking.

    I'd say that the Rimpact has all the benefits of the Cushcore, but without the expense or the difficulty of fitting them.

    Get tyre inserts in the calendar!

  • To be fair, I did switch tyres at the same time to a Hans Dampf rear.

    Would agree - that they feel more stable cornering - much less of that sideways squirm at low pressures.

    Would still recommend - almost a no brainer for the price given that they come with (very nice) tubeless valves.
