I’m not interested in the advertising copy but rather people’s actual experience
So you've used some washing up liquid then?
-
• #19529
No, having been a swimmer for my whole life I've got some stuff that stops my goggles fogging up, so if what I was after was "how do I stop the glasses that I have steaming up" I would probably use that.

I realised the irony as I typed it.

I’ll point you in the direction of my first response to your question then.

(My comment on the muc off stuff was actually directed at everyone else who was offering up random anti mist suggestions when there are several products that exist specifically for stopping glasses/goggles misting up, hence why I didn’t @ you)

I'm glad someone had a sensible suggestion, albeit an ignored one.

Any of you folk tried Cush Core? Put one in the back wheel after piercing a brand new Maxxis Dissector (dumb choice anyway), and it's made a huuuge difference to the ride/cornering/faith in not exploding the wheel.

I've put a Vittoria insert into the rear wheel of my chisel. Because hardtail and I am shit at riding. Cased it pretty bad. I would have had to buy a wheel already, this way it's just a slight buckle and a nicely dented rim.

Not cushcore but I have a Rimpact strip in the back of my hardtail - works well and allows me to run lower pressures without dinging the rim. Was pretty easy to fit but is noticeably slower rolling....

Rimpact here for me too. A rear in general on my hardtail but one in the front for Wales trips or enduro races

I've got Rimpact front and rear on both bikes, not ridden either without it so I can't provide an A/B view. I have ridden back to the car with a flat rear tyre which was a good trick, and in two weeks at Morgins downhill park I didn't have a single wheel related issue with them in.

I ride in Oakely Windjackets. Aimed at snowboarders, but quite handy as they come with a thin strap that prevents them disappearing in a crash and means you can dangle them round your neck. Not had any fogging issues in damp ol' Ireland.
Sadly, they don't come in a clear lens. I picked up a prizm trail which works most of the time, except in the deepest darkest bits of wood.

What tyres and pressure are you using?
@sensom
I've got Rimpact front and rear, and I didn't notice any negatives once I'd installed them. I'm running 14psi in a 2.35 Hans Dampf - front and 17psi in a 2.35 Nobby Nic rear. Where I really noticed them was going over wet roots, they certainly allow the tyre to conform better and provide a bit of damping there, and I've set some of my fastest times on them as they increase grip therefore allowing less braking.I'd say that the Rimpact has all the benefits of the Cushcore, but without the expense or the difficulty of fitting them.
Get tyre inserts in the calendar!

To be fair, I did switch tyres at the same time to a Hans Dampf rear.
Would agree - that they feel more stable cornering - much less of that sideways squirm at low pressures.
Would still recommend - almost a no brainer for the price given that they come with (very nice) tubeless valves.

Also they do protect your rim! No dings in these rims.

I run rimpact Pro on the rear on all my bikes.
I've cracked two rear carbon rims both times with rimpact installed. To be fair one of them was likely due to seeing how low I could go with pressure and grip. At 95kg 18psi was obvs a bit too low.
Second time running 23psi and was possibly just bad luck with a rock strike at the very edge of the rim, it sliced straight through the edge of the insert. There's also the chance the tyre burped some air beforehand with out me realising.
I've since stayed at 23psi with no more broken rims. They are just bits of foam rather than something with magical properties. I think some folk can think it's going to protect from every and any impact - it won't.
But I definitely do feel a tangible difference in grip, there's a psychological benefit that I think makes me faster.
I'm slightly jealous of riders who seem to be able to run significantly below 20psi, guessing those rider are a fair bit lighter. -

Anyone interested in a set of VGC Rotor REX 1 cranks?

Interesting - seems like most people are running Rimpact then. I wonder what the difference between the two is in terms of density of the foam used - the Cush Cores seem like they might be slightly harder, but I'm sure they both do a very similar job.
It might've been the tyre change coupled with fiddling with my coil shock, but putting inserts in and being able to run pressures around 20psi (I'm about 70kgs on a good day) made the bike ride like a magic carpet. Not sure I'd ever put inserts in the front, even riding at Maydena, but for the money it's a no brainer on the rear.
FWIW I didn't have much of a problem installing Cush on my bike with a brand new Aggressor, then it took me only 25 minutes or so on a friend's bike the day after. I'm mandating that all friends treat themselves to a rear insert (oo err).

I haven’t run any type of tyre insert.

Fitted some new bars to this bike and it feels a lot better to ride now.
These new pedals are decent too, more grippy than the One Up composites I've got on my Troll, slightly bigger platform feel under foot, and they're cheaper.
Still needs a 27.2 dropper.
