Another vote for the Mara from me, though I have the older PL62 .

Smaller ID and I'm going to radius and polish the ends, but it shouldn't matter. Hopefully it doesn't shoot the liquid out too fast.
If it does, plan B is to run a short section of Ti tube bonded into a larger diameter thinner wall carbon tube. It's tempting to go all-out and prep the surface with trivalent chromium etch before bonding with the same aerospace adhesive used to hold F1 cars together. Sometimes you have to work with what you've got!

Common issue: my cheapo scale is starting to go, is there anything in going uptown or are Acaia et al bound to fail just as soon?
I don’t need a timer or any bells and whistles, just an ability to tare.
My current one is 10.5cm x 12.5cm, wouldn’t really want anything bigger.
Thanks! -

Hm, thanks but doesn’t seem to be available around here (Canada), not sure about shipping from EU...

Looking at lab scales, Ohaus makes some reasonably priced ones that are actually warrantied.
-
• #20186
Yeah, saw that page but with all the prices in Euros I made an assumption. I’ll throw it into the cart and see what shipping shows. Thanks, ordered.
€19 all in, not too bad, will have to wait 3-4 weeks though. -

Weird brand, check out all the music stuff... 🤔

Yeah, if you sign up for emails you have to state that your interests are either a) coffee b) music or c) coffee and music.

I got those scales unbranded from Dealextreme in 2012 for $8.99 USD and they are still going. Search "digital pocket scale"

Stepped up my coffee game yesterday and bought some Timemore Black Mirror from:
https://sigmacoffee.co.uk/products/blackmirrorAlso purchased a Compak e5 grinder, to pair up with the Lelit Mara...
My lockdown man maths has justified all of the purchases as I would have spent this money on coffee at work anyway.
Win win

When you have had a chance to use them, can you give us your opnion?
My kitchen scales are starting to get a bit tempramental, so I'm wondering if it is time to buy some coffee specific ones (also #lockdown boredom may be starting to bite again...). Considering the Timemore, Hario drip and the Brewista 2 at the moment.
Edit: and that Basal Casa scale as well now that I've looked at that link...

I've got the Black Mirror scales.
Battery life is really good.
Out of the box accurate
Imperceptible lag.
They don't fit neatly in my Silvia (too tall) which is a bit annoying but Im working on a custom fix -

Thanks. I only became aware of the Black Mirror scales from you earlier post up thread. Seems to generally be well liked on coffee forums. Size isn't an issue in that I'll only be using them for filter.

Thinking I’m probably going to pull the trigger on a second hand Gaggia Classic this week (Rancilio Silvia an option if one pops up). Want to spend no more than £250 and have a machine I won’t outgrow.
Current setup (which has just died on me) is a DeLonghi Micalite, all preground coffee and with a pressurised basket, so the thinking is that the Classic will allow me to start off able to replicate the same procedure I’m on now (bar a longer warm up) but give me the headroom to experiment and eventually move to standard basket and freshly ground once I’ve saved up for a grinder.
Any reason not to?

Spam alert.
As part lockdown-mania, part in-joke I’ve had a batch of these printed. It’s a Ferris Bueller quote which seemed to fit the mood.
Not the ideal coffee-cup to be honest given the thermal properties, but it can boost morale on zoom calls.
I’m selling the surplus for £10 each posted (UK) which should cover my costs.. I’ll stick a quid each to the forum also. They are brand-new, boxed and bubble-wrapped.
Aeropress for scale, these are slightly more diminutive than the usual camp mugs.
PM me if anybody is interested.

Mine split a few years back. Iirc it was relatively pricey for replacement. Carbon looks ace.
