I went with the nuclear option this morning. Rapha deep winter baselayer, merino jumper, transfer gilet, softshell jacket, winter bibs with windblock tights over the top, Craft lobster gloves, thermal skull cap, Gore overshoes.
Still couldn't feel my hands and feet after an hour riding, but the rest of me was very warm. It was nice.
